Hi JLR. Yes, we humans are in a continual race. Maybe it's best to slow down and appreciate the moment, live in the now, so to speak. Stanza 2 may deviate a bit from the A/A/B rhyming. Marilyn

This is a super piece of poetry. My favorite part is the end.....
Just intuit that a tortoise can save face
and beat the hare in his race and become the tycoon

'The Race", is an extremely well-written and delightfully descriptive piece. Penned with craft and skill. This talented poet's work was a pleasure to both read and review. I look forward to seeing your next post.

Thank you much Dear Duchess!

This is an interesting take on a familiar story/adage. I think the formatting of the work and the visual imagery compliments the narrative and provides further depth to the short work, allowing for further reflection on the part of the audience. Thank you for sharing.

This one put a smile on my face. Who wouldn't want the tortoise to run? Even if it's only once in a blue moon. Fun interpretation for this picture challenge.

Yes, I understand what you are saying about the rat race and how man can slow down at times and the tortoise can win. Your words were fun to read but still had a good message. Man is so conceited thinking he has to always be the best regardless. I like the way you used rhymes and the way the last line in each verse rhymes, too.
Thanks for sharing, Jan

It looks, from the picture, as though the hare has his mind on other things. This should give the tortoise plenty of time to look upon the moon before continuing along the way.
I enjoyed your tercets and the underlying idea that those who pause to reflect are the winners in this world.

"Most humans beings are in the race/trying to keep pace" isn't that the truth? I like this poem about the "race" and the benefits of slowing down. Nicely done.

When are born life has already set a race for us. We should try to run the race set for us with all the best efforts we can. It is not necessary that we compete with anyone in the race of life! I liked this thought-provoking poem. Thanks for sharing!

I live with one who is always having to go back and do a job all over because he was in such a rush to complete the job. I have always thought that it is better to take time and do the job right the first time.
