I sincerely enjoyed the imagery in this lovely poem! In the first two stanzas I liked your use of finding words with the same-letter beginning. Between that and the rhythm and rhyme, the poem was quite pleasant to read! Thanks for sharing!

ha ha ha! I really like this poem! You start out so serious and poetic and end up exactly where I am when I first wake up. lol Especially if it's raining - seems to inspire the urge.
You added a surprising twist to a poem that really made it memorable!
Thank you for sharing!
Susan

This was such a fun read and I love this stanza: "
Dull dreary day is so mundane -
lends time to dream and contemplate.
It splashes on my windowpane.
Drips on the leaves, drops on the slate."

Janet,

What a fun poem! It seems lately what we've been seeing from you is mostly prose. THIS tells me you should be offering us a lot more poetry! You are quite, quite good at it. The fact that you offered a double rhyme in each stanza set your work another notch ahead. I thought the rhymes were entertaining and unexpected.

I was NOT expecting that ending, though. Thanks!

Thank you Robyn for this encouraging review. It is quite a compliment coming from a poet as talented as you. I have been taking some creative writing classes but I think I'm learning that rhyme and meter are my true loves. :))))

Blessings and thank you again for the kind comments

Janet, Janet, Janet... --shaking head slowly back and forth. You, silly, silly, head. I hope you do know how talented you really are.

A very well-written poem about another Monday starting with rain and the urge to climb back in bed and sleep further is very strong until a ray of sun comes through the window to change the mood for the day.

This is a nicely constructed poem in regular iambic tetrameter. Just what we need on a day like this. (Yes it's raining in England)
I love your line.
Drips on the leaves, drops on the slate.
I think 'goose grey' should be hyphenated.
I would love to know what sort of drink is 'joe'.

Nice progression from gentle description through contemplation to the mundane.
