So, Freedom is the meaning of life? It seems like there should be more to the meaning of life than just freedom, don't you think? Great start but it just didn't go deeper to show and tell us the true meaning of life!

    Life without freedom isn't living, therefore freedom is pretty meaningful. Of course, there are other examples, but this one, to me, is pretty relevant. Thank you for your comments.

I really enjoyed this poem and I am old enough to have been fortunate enough to remember the world you wrote about and an America that was standing pretty firmly on those important principles.

I like the message conveyed in your poem. How sad that what men used to strive for is no longer the case for some.
I have faith that things will turn around someday.

You are right that we have to fight for freedom, but it shouldn't be that way and it is. Fight for everything has to be fought for these days. Thanks for sharing!

That is a very well expressed poem. To write the meaning of life in such a few lines is not easy, but you have selected the essentials for you. Free to live, and to love others, not free to do wrong. Good wishes for the contest.

This is written very well, and it is a nice optimistic view. I really do feel where you're coming from and I too wish things were better, but I do not know of this time when men or at least the majority of them behaved as you say. It is a sad thing, and many of wish yesterday was better than today, but history does not support that. Men are and men have always been and sadly always will be.

But, as I said, it is a good sentiment. Good luck in the contest.

    well, in the past I don't remember thinking either side didn't love this country. I'm not saying they weren't power hungry, just not anti-American.

This is a beautifully written poem
About the meaning of life. It has a nice flow and rhyme scheme. I like this For life to be worth living we must have the freedom to live. Very well done . Your photo is adorable. Good luck in the contest.

I thought this was a rather simple, but profound piece. Man, I don't know what other folks are thinking when they act in certain ways. Perhaps they did not grow up with the same examples and rules some of the rest of us had. --sigh--
