Sally:

This poem reminds me how often people feel like they cannot be
themselves, for whatever reason, these days. I find that to be
tragic because most everyone has something to share. Thanks
for sharing.

Thank you for the excellent review and comments. It is greatly appreciated. I love peacocks. More peacock poems coming. I live near a peacock estate that has kept many peacocks over the years, since the 1940s, and now they city areas wild. Beautifully made creatures. Sending you my best today as always,

This is a nicely written 5-7-5 poem. Don't envy my plumes or the way I saunter by. Very Nice background colour and font. Interesting photo. Good luck in the contest.

To me, poetry is harder than prose. It takes time to ruminate over the exact or perfect word to tell volumes in so small a frame. The word saunter is an example of a verb that can describe so much. We often get hung up on adjectives when we should consider the power verbs. I bet that is covered in one of your chapters on writing?

Alas, that's the lament of all us beauties. LOL. Peacocks are such lovely birds, but they have the most raucous calls. I guess they can't have it all.

They calls are so loud and screaming. It sounds like someone is being murdered. Other than that, gorgeous. Thanks so much for the lovely review, dear Yvonne. Sal XOs....

This is a good metaphor. The reader is invited to examine themselves. There is an opportunity for them to laugh at themselves.
Self humor is very healing. This is well thought out.

There is jealousy among birds and one bird can't live in another habitat because it would be attacked by other birds, a fine 5-7-5 about envy Sally, much enjoyed, love Dolly x

You have made excellent use of your seventeen syllables in this descriptive, clever poem. Extreme beauty, intelligence, etc., sometimes
engenders envy--especially when the one possessing great beauty, . . . isn't very modest! LOL!

No, they are not. The males are the gorgeous ones to attract the females. Thanks so much for the wonderful. Always a pleasure, dear Jankce,

The beauty of the peacock is stunning and is the catalyst that provokes my thinking. I think "Why are these birds so beautiful?" Is there a special message here? It brings to mind the many quotations in the Bible regarding the clothing and feeding of the birds of the air and the lilies in the field.

Hello Sal.

Your poem is written strictly to the rules of a 5-7-5 poem. Peacocks are certainly beautiful birds, but they are the loudest things in the world. Every fire truck should have a peacock on top. You could hear them coming all over town.

Good luck in the contest.

When we are so beautiful it's so hard not to strut our stuff or shake a tail feather or two. So, vibrant and colorful, and most, a little mean if you catch a peacock in a bad mood. Thanks for sharing.
