Your 5-7-5 perfectly describes the seeming attitude of peacocks.
We have them in our yard and they do act like they are something special.
They ae beautiful but make a mess and eat our flowers so we are constantly chasing them off.

Terrific social commentary, Sally. Envy is a searing hot and deadly "emotion" that unfortunately isn't as understood as it should be, because most people will deny ever feeling it. But birds, they just do what they do, and I imagine they show off from time to time. Especially if there is a good-looking peahen around.

A fine entry into this contest and I wish you much luck with the contest committee. :)

I love the simple ones, Sally. It's cute, but so full of meaning. It's almost fable like. It says that we should not envy beauty or anything else for that matter. Or, we should not hold such enviable traits against anyone. We're all just being ourselves.
I also recognize that your poem is basically a tribute to one of the world's most beautiful creatures. I think that's what you intended. We are so lucky to have such animals to gaze upon.

A very cleverly written words. The feathers make the peacock look beautiful If he sits on them, he is another turkey:):) I love the beautiful image! Good luck!

I didn't know there were so many different kinds. I would have never thought turkeys were part of the peacock family. They're all beautiful. I can't blame them for wanting to show off.

Oh, I remember you used to live some place where you could see peacocks more frequently? The Lord has made such wonderful birds and animals. Thanks for sharing with your 5-7-5 and video!

Delightful--clever choice of saunter--brilliant punchline! The intro reminds me of a TV commercial 30 years back--opening with "Don't hate me because I'm beautiful."

The peacock is just naturally
blessed to be gorgeous.
