In all things one should strive to be truthful. If telling someone the truth will prove to be hurtful, perhaps then, silence is a better way to go. Lying to avoid hurt almost never works. This is another in a very long string of wonderfully written poems. Thank you for posting it.

It's never good to lie, you have expressed that perfectly in this well composed poem. Lies are usually exposed eventually and trust hard to regain. Thanks so much for sharing. :)

Dear jay, truer words were never said then the ones you have penned for this poem. I only wish more of us were humble enough to except this word of advice. And try every day, for the rest of our life, to practice it.

As usual a very smooth flowing rhyming poem. As an advocate of truth, I totally agree with the sentiments of your poem. Jesus said @ John 8:33 "the truth will set you free."

I would rather be honest than impressive. Many people hide truth thinking that it may hurt the other party. Honesty is true living. Thank you for your wonderful words of wisdom. Very thought-provoking.

Whenever I refuse to lie, yet don't have the heart to tell the truth, I try to reply with something like "that's an (interesting/ thought provoking/ unique) (idea, creation, etc.) You get the idea.

Such a simple thing, truth, yet for many, very hard to do. Some untruths are told to protect the person it's being told to. Others can tie you up in knots, till you can rmember what you originally said. Another very honest and wise poem. Well done, my friend. Sandra xx
