Really well done. My ear for meter is imperfect, but I think you were in good iambic for most or all of it.. The sentiment is lovely and the character comes through. No suggestions - I can see why this won the contest. Well done!

Easy to see why this won the contest. It is so true. We sometimes wish
we were young again and look back on certain moments fondly.
Lovely rhyming and strong meter make this a pleasure to read.
Congratulations!
Nancy

The author's words are engaging, interesting and creative. I enjoyed the read of this poem. These words made me ponder on my own childhood.
The poem flows and connects well. I especially liked the last stanza as
it ended on a positive note. Great Poem!

What beautiful memories you have of your childhood and how beautifully you describe them. It sounds like you were an only child, but you did very well to entertain yourself with your imagination. No surprise that you won the contest.

I enjoyed this poem about childhood, which is totally different from adulthood. The memories, innocence, love and peace of mind that comes with childhood is just so wonderful.
May God bless our children.

I really love this presentation. The oicture is a wonderful example of a child just being a child. My early years were much the same as I was raised on a farm.

This poem is excellent in all respects--skillfully-composed in ballad stanza, vividly descriptive of a good childhood, with just a tinge of sadness over loneliness, but remembering great use of imagination--nostalgia at its best.

Thank you so much for the lovely review and comment. Yes, I am an only child. I didn't even have any close neighbors who had children so I had to make up on my own games. I really appreciate the six stars.
