That's one of the big problems of retirements, the strangeness of being together 24/7, but we have separate interests, although related, and it's worked out brilliantly for us, and we like and watch similar shows together and have long lasting relationships with mutual friends. You would like Australia too. Beautifully written Beth, blessings Roy

Thank you Roy, I'm sure I would love Australia. I wish is was so far away. I didn't quit work for long after he did but I had to quit to take care of my father in 1995. We had separated interests to. He liked gardening and working outside and listening to music. I liked painting and writing and reading so it worked out fine for us.

And yet we?ve been to the US four times, and numerous times to Europe and Asia, it?s only a day out of your life, compared to a lifetime of memories. It?s a mind thing.

If I were younger I would come, but even when I was younger, I dreaded flying. It uncomfortable for long trips.

They say statistically it?s the safest place be at anytime, I was scared at first, if not for Covid, I would be off, but I do understand, you?ll normally find an Australian in most places in the world at one time.

I've liked all the Australians I've known. A friend of Carol's married an Australian boy and moved to Australia. I don't think the marriage lasted but she liked the country too much to leave.

This is another very interesting post on your life. I enjoyed your visit with the Australians, and the fact that Christi broke up with Glen. He was not good for her.

Dear Beth, This Chapter should have been titled Major Life Changes, because when it comes to the Shelby family, a visit from a couple of nice pastors from down under, doesn't compare to the rest of the news; your health problems and Evan's retirement.

Thank you Suzanna for the review and comments. I've had a lot of chapters with names similar to major life changes and there will be more. My life keeps changing. This is end of the down under.
There will be more about the changes.

No we don't want our daughters to be tied to men who would abuse them. I have no respect for a man who would hit a woman. The fact is there shouldn't be any hitting from either sex as far as I'm concerned. Well done, Beth. Nancy:)

I completely understand about the togetherness. LOL While my husband was in the military, 23 years, he was gone most of it, when he retired he was underfoot. LOL

I also invited them to dinner one evening and prepared a meal for them. (To me if you invited somebody to dinner you would automatically prepare a meal. You adding that to the sentence took me out of the story.)

I'm glad Christi is alright and that she's back home again. She doesn't deserve to be hit no matter what she did, didn't do. I can understand the togetherness thing, oh too well. Hubby took an early retirement drove me nuts. He's back to work again thank god. He's recently threatening another retirement I said I want a she shed first. I love him to death, but sometimes he's worse than a kid. Your story is well-written, very interesting. I look forward to reading more.

Thank you for the great review and comments. I got a good laugh about your experiences with your husbands retirement. I love the she
shed thing. Is that like a man cave? LOL

Only it's more girly with fluff and frills. I want mine to have thick purple carpet a chandelier and an electric fireplace, a desk, chair and coffee pot. I have to have my coffee.

Forgive me but I found myself laughing at the husband's experience of early buy out and your togetherness. What is the old saying about company. The first three days is alright but anytime longer then the like fish things began smelly. LOL.
Glad Christie made it home and dropped that wife beater.
I have no use for a man who would hit a woman. I have a scar over my right eye to prove that, but he has something worse. He will never hit another woman in my presence. OOps . Sorry I said that. LOL.
Good one Beth

Thank you so much for the review and for the comments. I'm glad you got a laugh. I was a bit worried about Evan taking the buy out but he was smart the way he invested and we came out fine. It saved his sanity and he got to enjoy many years of doing what he liked doing.

I suspected so. Wisdom is justified by those who have it.
God has blessed you with a fine family.

This is a good chapter about Christi and Glen, and their family. How fortunate that she saw the other side of Glen before committing to a marriage that would have been disastrous as well as too far from the USA.
The merging of Chevron with Gulf was perfect for Evan's plan of retiring early. I look forward to seeing how that pans out.

I remember that time period. Because of the Chevron-Gulf merger, we moved from CA to Houston, TX in 1988. Thanks for sharing all these memories. I'm glad that Christi didn't marry such a man. She reminds me a lot of my youngest daughter. So glad that Evan was able to follow his dream and retire early.

we realized she could be aggregating (aggravating?)
They were hard-sorking (working)

Thank you again for the review. It took me a while to see what was happening with the spacing. The fonts were the same but a couple of paragraphs had a different format. I appreciate the spag notice.
