This is so well written and applies to so many of us, including me. So many signs I didn't see. So many I saw, but then thought I was maybe overreacting. After all, doesn't live conquer all? Apparently not. Great job!

Punishment is something that only God hands out on judgement day. I never believe in revenge. I would never want to live a devil's life because someday we are accounted for our behavior. If your story is fiction you hit them right on with a hammer; now if we can learn from them, that's another story.

This is an interesting, heart felt piece. I have a poem called Subconscious Betrayal about how are subconscious betrays us. We sometimes choose a man that was just like our fathers and pay the price. I think that is what you are eluding to in the beginning. Sometimes love makes us overlook the red flags. Always go with your gut. Thanks for sharing.

This is an interesting, heart felt piece. I have a poem called Subconscious Betrayal about how are subconscious betrays us. We sometimes choose a man that was just like our fathers and pay the price. Very well-written. A terrific description of what happens when people ignore the signs that their partners have been trained to another way of life that can mean nothing but trouble. One thing I would suggest is take the comma out of the sentence--She found a guy good for something.

This story leaves the reader pondering and a bit saddened, which may have been your point. The second sign brought me to tears. "Mom can you give me this, Mon can you get me that!" I love the moral to your story: Don't put anyone or anything above God.
