A short poem that packs a punch filled with strong imagery that gives a clear picture in your head when reading the poem. I enjoyed it. Thank you for sharing your work with us all.

I enjoyed your apt descriptions here Lance and you brought the scene to life. As you have not used an iambic meter here I am not sure if your write will be accepted by the judges, but if may not be that strict, I wish you luck, I enjoyed your story here, a little snippet of history, love Dolly x

Thank God for our forefathers determination. I cannot even imagine what it would be like to be a British subject. I wonder how many Americans have this kind of grit nowadays?

Very well done and descriptive. I never knew that term was used to describe a battle, but I can see it. Your poem and picture are great, thanks for sharing and good luck in the contest.

Hello, Lance,
Excellent entry for the Minute contest. Your poem is a minute poem and it's about minute men... that's clever. I read that they were called that because they were ready to fight in a minute's notice. Well done. Good luck in the contest.

I can't imagine what men go through - and now women too - when they know battle is imminent. However, your short, pithy lines give the poem a cadence that fits the subject. I know I would be the one standing in the middle hollering, "Now, you guys, just cut it out..."

Great poem. I love the format - it pulses like a battle and your words have taken me right on to the bloody field. You've painted a vivid picture with only a few (and rhyming) words. Well done and good luck in the contest.

Your minute poem is excellent in every respect--skillfully composed (meeting standards for the type of poem) and vividly descriptive of the confusion and terror of battle--even when much training has taken place.
