I haven't read your book, but I will be pursuing are soon, since you've roused my curiosity. Your poem says so much and your author's note confirms the aura of what we wrapped in each Christmas season. We don't look for it, it just comes to us, like a veil.

A wonderful final chapter to Carolina Pastorals. These has so many images and messages, I love the spiritual tone of it and the magic Christmas spirit emanating from every line.

Loved your last stanza:

The snow falls silently
like manna from heaven,
transforming the world.

Thanks so much for the excellent review and your wonderful words of support. I will compile the poetry posted this year into Carolina Pastorals next year and you can just bookmark it from Fanstory. Someday maybe it will get into print. My first project in that line will be my novel, The Faith in my Fathers. So this will all take time. estory

I like the Christmas spirit in this poem. The lively nativity show, the choir singing and the birth of the Christ in a snowy night are all on display in this poem. I doubt you have snow in NC but it sounds real.

A beautiful poem, with so many Christmas memories. This year many of us will not be able to gather for the Christmas Eve services, but we can celebrate the coming of the Lord in our homes. I thank the Lord for the live stream that will let us share the evening in some sense with others.

Hi estory, and it was a lovely poem. I give you a six because it was so wonderfully written. As far as I'm concerned Christmas, this year, is just not happening. It has been cancelled. I can't be with my nearest and dearest, as is happening to so many of us all over the world. And I don't mind. I'm fine with that. But the spirit is not there. But that doesn't mean I can't appreciate your poem. Ulla:)))
