They not only brought themselves across the water, very bravely I might add, the folk in New Plymouth not only brought their courage and faith, but suffered great hardship, there were only fifty left out of a hundred that survived that trip, but lost some on the way, and they didn't know what they were to establish either. Beautifully written, a similar history to our own, who likewise suffered deprivation, good job, blessings Roy

Thanks so much for the excellent review and for your wonderful words of support for the poem, my friend. Yes, this is it, exactly. They blazed the trail, they endured all kinds of hardship in the faith of making a better life for themselves. My grandmother left Germany in 1911, never to see her parents or siblings again. I can only imagine what that must have been like. I think she was 21 years old. estory
