Hello e-story, I believe you did bring life to the memory of the people and the home. I could almost see myself there as you described it so well. I've missed your poetry. It's me Tier V. King but I'm back as Asem.inspirations. Got a lot of reading to do. Have a great day

Ah so good to hear from you again and so glad you enjoyed this Christmas poem; I am glad it was able to brighten things up a bit in this dark time of epidemic. Feel free to read the rest of the book in my portfolio. I will look forward to your new work. estory

Well done! I could feel myself in the old house listening to the people living there, and imagine the house being built stone-by-stone from the surrounding ground. They now rest in the ground they worked so hard to subdue. It is good to know where we came from.

I remember that one often visits old houses when they are traveling. It is fun to see old and some cooler things in the old days. I most recently visited the Glensheen House in Duluth, Minnesota in 2019. It has a lamp that can change color in the evening. I like the last sentence:
it's good to know where we came from.

Well done.

Thanks so much for the excellent review and for your wonderful comments supporting the poem. The connection with the past, with the foundation of the society and culture, is the real theme of the poem. I think I got this interest in history from my mom. but I have carried it along all my life. estory

Well, my forbears on my father's side came over with the Mayflower and, of course, it fascinates me how they managed to settle, but at a great cost to the natives who were stripped of their land if not wiped out, by the settlers in all their misplaced wisdom. I liked your poem, all the same. Ulla:)))

Thanks so much for the excellent review and for your perspective on the poem. Most of the settlers on the Mayflower died too during the first year of settlement. Life is hard for everybody. Migrations have been going on as long as there have been humans and people have been struggling with it all through history. This poem is about the struggle of life from my perspective. Its the only perspective I can write about. estory

This poem does speak to me. I love looking at old buildings and imagining the people who built and occupied them. It's fascinating to think that they lived in harder times and yet had a great appreciation of all they had. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks so much for the excellent review and your interesting comments on the poem. You're a kindred spirit then. I think my mother is the one who got me into history and these old houses. She loved places like that. I just like to walk around in them and imagine the lives and the personalities of the people who used to live there. estory

I love history, too. So, your poem evokes an appreciation of what our forefathers endured and how they sallied forth while pioneering in a strange land. They set the pace that never ends. Well rendered.

Thanks so much for the excellent review and your interesting perspective on the poem. We take so much of this for granted. My grandmother left Germany in 1911, left her family, her parents, her brothers and sisters, never to see them again. I often think of that. It took faith, and will of iron to get through something like that. estory

hello
a well written , almost historical poem. You have nice usage of imagery and atmosphere.
Those old places that held the white folk going forward to somewhere new, coming often from places of adversity.
Well done.

This is a lovely piece of writing and an insight into the lives of the pioneers, managing with little but strong in their character and in their faith. Well written.

Thanks for the excellent review and I think you got exactly what I wanted to say here. We take so much of their lives for granted, now that we live in their footsteps. estory

Very descriptive work remembering our ancestors who worked so hard to establish our nations (US and Canada). With all the things we enjoy today, we often forget their sacrifices. I like your style and your subject.
