This is very clever and a lot of fun to read. As a proud American (who agrees we need to Make America Great Again - but only because of the shambles Trump is leaving it in), I always agree with any logical criticism of "FanStory reviewers." You did an excellent job of crucifying The Great Orange Blob without even mentioning his name. Your rhymes all work well, as always, and I even caught the few midline rhymes.
I'm glad I'm not running against you for an Extended Fiction prize. I suspect it could get violent.

My first question is how do you know where you came in a contest? I have been on this site for years and still don't know how to get the results! Ha ha ha. Who wins is a complete mystery to me, but if you enter a contest you should never expect to win and if you do win then it is a good surprise. You made me smile with your rant here, love Dolly x

Lol. Hmm. Who does this sound like? I don't think he's on Fanstory, though. He's too busy tweeting and playing golf. Thanks for the funny satire. It's hard to know how a contest is won. I think as long as we keep learning and improving, that's a prize in itself.

I enter quite a few contests but mainly for the challenge of adhering to the contest and trying a different topic. I am quite competitive but it doesn't put me into a hissy fit of despondency if I don't get votes, whereas other writers on this site get the sulks and don't enter competitions if they have had 'failures'. I don't see any writing as a failure - it is an opportunity to learn and improve, just as you say.

I'm sure pleased you noticed it was a political satire - some readers thought I was a sore loser myself! That's just not so, personally; I enter contests to stretch myself, not expecting to come out a winner.

I am not an 'eye on the prize' person - i enter fanstory prompts to stretch myself with different topics, and while i have enjoyed some success i certainly wouldn't sulk if i didn't win, unlike that unpresidential twit.
I hope I don't have to bitch about anything for a while - i am nearly all bitched out.
