This is a lovely rendering of the great things about love.
The inspiration, the giving and receiving, and the lessons learned while the love is growing. There is too much to say about what love is. It is so much a part of what we are. You have covered a lot in a graceful poem.

Ralf, thank you! Yes love is a very infinite subject. As a practice of Present Moment living, I do my very best each day to put on my Spiritual cloak of Love and go forth into the day. Some days works beyond words to describe other days not so much....

Of all the English words that are totally inadequate is "love". It's one word with so many applications, that aren't necessarily related, except in the case of caring. The most self indulgent is the male/female, the most sacrificial is dying in place of one's enemy, which really, only one man achieved that. Beautifully written, blessings Roy

Of all the English words that are totally inadequate is "love". It's one word with so many applications, that aren't necessarily related, except in the case of caring. The most self indulgent is the male/female, the most sacrificial is dying in place of one's enemy, which really, only one man achieved that. Beautifully written, blessings Roy

This is a fine poem. I like the opening stanza equating love and the need to give, and the second stanza that suggests no expectation of return. However, the third stanza, I believe is misaligned having an upper case "The" in the middle of the line. Should it have been the start of the fourth line? If so, I would suggest deleting the subsequent "The(s)". Second to last stanza I would suggest changing "that" to for.

I am referring to individuals as the focal point of what love can provide. Humanity as defined the human race; human beings collectively.
