The Packers are unique, for sure, being locally owned. They do a lot for the community, build that love, the trust. Can't tell I'm a fan can you, lol. One day I hope to go to a game, see the frozen tundra, get a cheese hat. It'd have to be preseason though, don't think I could stand the cold. Then again freezing would be worth it.

It gets super cold up there too, MD.

Wisconsin is one of the places on my bucket list to visit. I think cheese would be the big attraction. Green Bay was the major team during the Lombardo years when I was a kid. Keep'em coming, though I know you're coming down to the end of it.

Dear Bill, you have just given me more homework to do! You forgot to mention if Wisconsin grows all of the grain and hops for all of the beer that they are famous for? I am just guessing if it rains enough for all the grass that the cows eat, there would be enough rain to grow the grain too. However I do know that most grain is grown in a dryer climate, and thinking that they may have to import the grain from the Dakotas.

Washington, Oregon, and Idaho for the hops, and all producers for the wheat and other grains.

Thank you for helping me see this state through your eyes. I've stayed to the east except for one trip to Denver, Colorado in one trip to Flagstaff, Arizona. We also saw Sedonda. Wisconsin is way too cold for me as was our eight years in New York. Sending you my best today as always,
Sal XOs.

I knew nothing about the State of Wisconsin until I read your post. Dairy and cheese are two of my favorite foods, so Wisconsin is a great place for me to visit.

Don't forget to grab a brewski while you're there.

Interesting tidbit about taking the ferry cross Lake Michigan to get to Wisconsin. You seem especially interested in the state's beer industry. Who could do without that Wisconsin cheese? Not being a football fan, I don't know much about the Green Bay Packers. At least the team's name isn't controversial. Interesting tour of the state. judi

I grew up next to the biergarten and beer was mentioned daily. Milwaukee was the center of the American beer universe back then. Now microbreweries are everywhere.

Interesting material in your article. I think there's a microbrewery in Terre Haute, IN where I live. (I don't drink beer.) judi

Bill,
Well, yes. No worries. I think most of those beers and many more are available. Not that I care anymore.
This was another interesting history lesson. What's next!?

Of course. Silly me.

This is one of the few states, I never visited. For someone who has been there you didn't say a lot about it other the name some beers and that it is now for cheese. Is there anything left beside Wyoming. I have enjoyed learning more about the states.

Wow, that 62 mile long ferry ride would do me in. I enjoyed reading about this state. I knew about the cheese and dairy industries, but not many of the others. Of course I knew about the Green Bay Packers--they played Dallas in the late 60's for the Super Bowl in minus temps. Thanks for sharing the other great facts. Jan

As you mentioned Schlitz, it used to be my Dad's beer of choice one. I am looking as I write of a Schlitz cup I found. "The beer that made Milwaukee famous." I knew Wisconsin for its cheese and of course, the beer. It is amazing how many beer labels have disappeared over the years, But they now have the craft breweries so the markets change. I for one do not like beer or football, so that only leaves cheese for me to think about Wisconsin.

According to one article, Schlitz was bought out by Stroghs, who was bought out by Pabst.

Looks like bad management.
