This is very pretty and a good description of the fall colors in the Appalchian Mountains. Since I live in the Chattanooga area, I go there often. I remember you from when you were on here before. I too was off for a while.

Thanks so much for the excellent review and your support for the poem. I am glad it reminded you so much of those wonderful mountains. Yes, I was a member from about 2005 to 2009 then left due to some computer problems. I rejoined in 2017 after I moved from New York to North Carolina. estory

Absolutely, estory, you've written a lovely poem about the autumn in the mountains. You describe the atmosphere and the colours so very well, especially as I live in the mountains as well. Ulla:)))

Thanks so much for the excellent review and I am glad you enjoyed this simple little poem of autumn in the mountains. Probably one the shortest things I have ever written. But sometimes they can be little gems too. estory

I like this one a lot. Linking of the autumn leaves to a love letter to the mountains. This is a very clever idea. It requires imagination. I like you poem because you invented some interesting similes that are very fresh for me.

I'm looking forward to the next installment.

What a beautiful, gentle and lyrical poem, celebrating your mountains in all their majesty. The colour words are beautiful, the use of lace indicates the fragility of the leaves. I enjoyed it very much.

I really like how you are stitching together your Appalachian Elegy. Leaves expressed as love letters to the mountains is the beauty of nature.

So well done, estory. I will be looking forward to the next part. :)

Thanks so much for the excellent review and your wonderful comments supporting the poem. I am glad that 'love letters' image seemed to have worked so well. It is proving to be pretty popular, considering the low member dollars I put on it. Mountain Chapel will be the final part of Appalachian Elegy, probably coming out next week. It's my favorite of the six, I think. estory

Hello estory
Smiles to your Autumn Song----Appalachian Elegy pt. 5
It's a beautiful pastoral romantic poem about the beauty of autumn in the mountains. We here in Vermont have the same beauty in the autumn.

Thanks so much for the excellent review and your wonderful words of support for my little poem. I am glad you enjoyed it. I love Vermont. It's my favorite New England state. I've been on the Green Mountain Flyer, to Okemo mountain, Rutland, the Robert Frost Trail, Middlebury, (my favorite town in Vermont) Mt. Philo, and Otter Creek Brewery, and down route 30 to Hubberton Battlefield, the South Vermont Art Center, and Hildene, and of course, Bennington. estory

Robert Frost trail is somewhere between Middlebury and the Green Mountain Forest, I believe. I haven't been there in 12 years. estory

What an ode to the grand oak and maple trees with their leaves writing a story. This is a beautiful turn of phrase, "leaf membrane love letters".

Dear eq, this poem does not even need an illustration because you have painted a picture with your words.
Autumn certainly should be every poets favorite season, because there is something in the air, Or in the colors That surround us, that make the words, like these, come pouring out.

Thanks so much for your very encouraging remarks on the poem. When you say the poem needs no illustration, I think that is one of the best compliments I have ever been given, because that's what I set out to accomplish in my poetic imagery; create a vibrant, colorful scene the reader can see, hear, touch, taste, smell and touch. Make the scene come to life. Thanks so much for your support. estory

I just love this one.
The tree's are talking, and
writing their memoirs...love letters
to the hills, how beautifully
haunting. This is my favorite so far!
Blessings...

Thanks so much for the excellent review and your wonderful words of support for this little poem. I was kind of surprised at how popular this was, considering the small amount of member dollars I put on it, but I am glad so many people seem to have liked it. Making connections like this with readers is what its all about. estory

A very well-written elegy interlude about the beauty of Autumn seems to be the best in the world in the Appalachian where nature is still mostly untouched.
