I'm not sure that I ever believed in Santa Clause, but it's not as sad as it sounds, we (our family) were borderline Amish. nuff said, we had a deep belief in God.

I understand. I've always been fascinated with Amish people. I've read so many Amish books and I buy produce at an Amish community store. I admire their life styles They are God-fearing people.

I always tell my first graders that I believe. It comes up every year and I do actually believe in the magic of Christmas. I know Santa isn't real, but the magic is and he helps with that. Jesus birth is the real magic of Christmas.

Thank you Barbara, I do appreciate the review on this. I believe in the magic too. I'll bet there is always someone in your class that thinks he knows more than the others.

This story, A Mythical Santa, is a fun look at what we all had to go through at one time or belief in Santa is tied with belief in our parents.

Thanks for the review and comment. Yes, we don't believe our parents will lie but may they have another way of looking at it.

As a retired early childhood teacher, I recall that every year at least one child would upset the class by declaring there was no Santa, and after an argument, at least one child would end up crying. When the children looked to the teacher for the truth, I would refer them to their parents. Children need to believe in fun things. Your mom was wise to send you to the dictionary and let you draw your conclusions about what you read. This was a delightful and heartwarming story. Best wishes in the contest.

A very well-written story about Santa who means different things to different people. Children are always excited to hear Santa is coming until they find out what is real. I believe to let children enjoy Santa for as long as possible and let them find out by accident.

I'm glad that you didn't give up on Santa. It is without a doubt that Santa and his reindeer will arrive Christmas Eve with a sled of toys for boys and girls. But I'm also glad that you mentioned the birth of Jesus.

This work has reached the exceptional level

A most enjoyable read with a very authentic feel to the process of figuring out the 'truth' about Santa complete with 'evidence' and peer pressure - well told

Charming story! Delightfully amusing--"mythical" misconstrued. This may well be a winner.

Maybe [omit comma] it really didn't matter as long as he kept coming.

That way the magic of Christmas [omit comma] lived on.

Seen through the eyes of a child. Keeping your doubts to yourself ensured that the gifts kept coming! Clever child. Interesting and well- written. Best wishes for the contest.

Hi Beth,
Kids hear a lot at school, don't they? And I'm afraid most of it is the truth. It's a shame that kids learn the truth at all. I'm 70 years old, and I continue to believe that Santa is real. Oh yes, I'm the great pretender.
Nicely penned! I enjoyed your story. I think Christmas is what you make it. I prefer to pretend, because the real world doesn't make sense. Santa Claus makes sense, but the world is crazy. And getting crazier all the time!
Thanks for sharing this well written story. And Good Luck in the contest!
Cheers,
Kimbob
