I think its a poignant story of the loss of innocence of two little girls. All the more poignant because it comes at the confessions of the dad. He seems torn here, and it makes his roiling emotions all the more complicated. estory

This is a touching story, so very sad. It was bad enough that you lost your mother, but finding out that there was no Santa Claus as well? Why did Rose think you little kids should be told the truth? I think it was wrong to do that. No wonder you cried yourself to sleep. Your Christmas magic went "Poof!" I'm sorry that this happened to you.
It's well-written, but gut-wrenching.

This is a touching story, so very sad. It was bad enough that you lost your mother, but finding out that there was no Santa Claus as well? Why did Rose think you little kids should be told the truth? I think it was wrong to do that. No wonder you cried yourself to sleep. Your Christmas magic went "Poof!" I'm sorry that this happened to you.
It's well-written, but gut-wrenching.

Dad had no intention of having a Christmas for us it was to painful for him. Rose did not want us to have expectations of a Christmas

Well written too. Just one small thing jarred me for a moment and that was the reference to "were in shell shock." It's slightly awkward and I suggest "were still in shock."

It would seem unusual for that many cardinals and to stay almost half an hour to the minute day after day. I like to believe God was sending me a message to not worry that I was not going to die, I also have to laugh because I must be a real piece of work for Him to have to send 11 angels to keep me in line!

Christmas is such a wonderful time for children and I'm sure your father wasn't in any shape to try to make Christmas special after he lost his wife. I hope he grieve too long. Actually, we did have to get rid of the dog we had for 12 years after the housing project banned dogs. but that came later. She died then of a broken heart.
