Don't ever do something bad to yourself! You need to go get help so you gain some faith again. We cannot live without faith; start thinking positive, hang in there, things will get better.

Don't worry about me, Rosemary. This is made up - my mental health is very stable and I do have Faith. Thanks for your concern. x

Thanks for reviewing, Teri. No need to worry for me - this is all made up as my own mental health is very stable. I was just imagining what it might be like from this person's point of view.

Hello, anonymous,

Great entry for the Mental Health Poem writing prompt contest. I suffer from depression and I know how you feel. Don't worry, things are going to get better. Hang in there.

Good luck in the contest.

I suggest you add a crisis line number. (800) 273-8255 National Suicide Prevention Lifeline

Thanks for your remarks. That's a good idea to add the crisis help-line - it shows caring empathy on your part. Luckily for me, this poem is all invention, but it is certainly based on harsh reality. (I don't live in the US, and am not a Republican supporter anyway, also I am not a man and I don't own a gun.) I was aiming to portray an experience completely different to my own.

Oh what pain and despair you have expressed, and in such a powerful way. I am sure things will improve, so don't give up, as people care for you and love you. I wish you well for the contest, but even more, for life itself.

As you may know when you find out who wrote this, I am not a Republican or a man, and I don't own a gun. I live a very contented life in a safe country, but I do appreciate your compassionate words.

Oh that's good! You certainly entered into the heart and mind and thoughts of someone in despair, and expressed it so well! I am sure that many are in fact feeling that way. You were very convincing!

I even managed to convince myself and ended up depressed!

I'll go and mow the lawn - it's a sunny day here. Then I can feel sorry for the daisy weeds getting mown down in their prime instead!

I am relieved to see this is for a contest vs autobiographical--you've certainly met the requirements of raw/vulnerable/real. Powerful and heartbreaking.

I also am very relieved it is not a portrayal through personal experience. (I am a woman who lives in a safe, relatively virus-free country and definitely NOT a Republican with a gun or mental health issues, apart from an addiction to writing poetry.)

We live in dark ages. It is so sad that people have to go through such a painful and deadly period. Is it really "It is What it is"? NOPE. Should we have a competent task force, we could have contained the virus.

Thank you so much for your supportive and caring review. I really appreciate your encouraging high rating. You will be relieved to know (as I am) that my poem is made up from my imagination as to how someone in this position might feel. (Luckily I live in New Zealand, and I am a woman who lives simply and happily, with no mental health issues apart from an addiction to writing poetry!)

This has got to mirror a lot of the population these days. I know a lot of people are going through exactly what you have written in this post and the suicide rate has increased tremendously. You hit the nail on the head with this one. You have a good flow reading through. Good luck in the contest.

This is such a sad write about the state of the world today and so many are suffering hunger, they are desperate and we are on the edge of anarchy as the Pandemic and the voting has caused upset. I fear for America now as everything will change and the dollar will plummet, and this will be the case for at least the next four years. A poignant write, love Dolly x
