I love reading memoirs and your vacuum cleaner and cat tale held my interest. I am a vacuum fanatic and admire your ability to repair them. Excellent writing that flows smoothly and creates clear scenes. I am looking forward to the next chapter. Loved the line Luci in the Skies.

If you believe in God, then you must also believe there is a Grand Plan for each of us, notwithstanding our free will, which allows us to make choices that affect the direction of our lives and our futures, good or bad. Those faint feelings, that little inclination toward someone or something are too often ignored in the momentary impulses we all suffer from. If the Greatest Gift is Love, then helping someone with no thought of return is certainly the second. There are few who give, many who only take, and in between there are those of us who hesitate, caught in the middle of
"Is that the right path, the right thing, the right person?"
Mathew 8:26 And He saith unto them; "Why are ye fearful, o ye of little faith?" Then He arose, and rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was a great calm.
A Great Calm. Faith.

Interesting. I just saw a poster that said,
" If you are a giver set boundaries, as the takers have none"

Very good. I don't usually review storeys, but here goes. Your words paint a picture of a small suburban community we all would love to live in. Where people care for each other and put true meaning into the word neighbor. Adding the beagle was a nice touch. Great job, keep writing.

When you talk about the appliance grave yard, it reminds me of a notorious fellow. I'm not sure if he repaired appliances or just trashed his own, but we always knew when we were hitting his property. It began with an old top-loader washing machine. A few 1000 feet farther, there was a stove, then a dryer. On and on with apliance samples til you got to his driveway. Then it changed to other things needing to be repaired, snowmobiles, lawnmowers etc. This has great meaning.

Good for you, Darren! So great that you could use your God-given talent to repair that discarded Hoover and make it useful and then also repair the other vacuum cleaner for your friend. Praise God!!

To me, this who was no meer coincidence, (remove "who" and change "meer" to "mere")

This will need some editing. I suggest focusing on whether you want this past or present tense and stay with one. There are other things too. I listed some to give you an idea of what to look for.

notes

If you go down my street Los Robles and you take a left on {high} Street

- should be: High Street. Proper name.

Sometimes {there's} clothes there, food, and quite often {there's} vacuum cleaners.

Should be: There are; plural

{my roommate} Perry and I collect these to get the belts off of them and to repair them so as a result we have some vacuum cleaners in the [backyard, {space} along} with a number of other appliances.

-should be: My roommate, Perry

One day I was riding my bike home from the market and I saw {a} vacuum cleaner on the sidewalk in front of the house next to the Baptist Church which is across from where I live on Los Robles boulevard.

- add missing word.

It {is} a Hoover vacuum cleaner with a HEPA filter which is designed for households with pets.

- was. This tale is past tense.

So[,] I took it apart and cleaned it and it {turns} out it was clogged solid.

-turned. Past tense

{so using} a hanger to remove

= So, using

There is a gentleman who {lived} there named Mark who is a paraplegic.

- lives.

No doubt it, your finding that vacuum and had the insight to pick it up, take it home and had the ability to clean it up was a [as my friend says] a God thing. Then coming into contact with the lady whose vacuum had the same problem that earned you $10.00
was definitely of the leading of the
Lord.
