Hello Lori, well you won your bet! Poor little fish - you realize now you should have kept them indoors a while. I'm no expert on keeping fish but I'd be loathe to put them out in November. Lesson learned. Enjoy your pond and put some new fish in sometime around spring. We are starting to get cold nights now. I dragged my hubby out in the dark last night to drag in some pot plants into the conservatory - I would not have gone to bed happy otherwise. We had the first frost. Stay well and take care. Don't be so hasty regarding the fish - how would you like to be hurled into ice cold water LOL? 'Bye for now - love Dorothy xx

ohhhhh, ouch! They hibernate, Dorothy, I just thought they would get used to it sooner than
later, I slowly got them into the water from being in a bag of the water they came from. But I think they would have had a better chance if there were plants in the pond. yes lesson learnt.
I keep putting food in it just in case. We wilkl see in the spring

A beautiful prose poetry construct that allows the reader to pause and reflect on each line. The pond looks awesome (I have built several in Australia). I had a similar experience with my first cement pond because I introduced the fish too early. I quickly learned to curb my enthusiasm. DJ

I have never built a pond in my garden and I expect that there are some basic rules to obey to ensure that fish survive. I wonder where your fish went? As you say some animal could have gone fishing overnight, as wild life get hungry. An unusual post and I was entertained, love Dolly x

What a fascinating fish story. you could have titled this, "The Fish That Got Away"
When I was a 10 yr old boy I fell into a home made fish pond that had a giant sized crawdad in it. That crawdad snapped on to the back of my pants and drug me all around the pond, until I grabbed a hold of a giant green frog, that jumped out of the pond and I was able to roll off it's back onto the lawn
If you believe this story I have others I can tell you.

lol ya, where were you, Pondsville? Cute title. I keep throwing in food every other day, thinking they are hibernating under the motor housing for this little spritzer fountain I put in. It's been getting to freezing here so maybe spring time I'll be surprised. thxs for your review and story. And the fish was this big......

This was such a nice free form poem that you wrote here. Not your fault for the end result of the fish tale though so don't beat yourself over it. You wrote a very interesting story and I enjoyed reading it. Thanks for sharing.

Oh, the guilt! This made me chuckle and feel sad all at the same time. The little pond is lovely and I am sure you will truly enjoy it in the spring. This is well written. Nicely done.

The racoons probably did. They are bright as heck. I thought this was an interesting poem. You got me involved (don't mention racoons) in the story. And you did a great job with the descriptions. Very well written.
