I very much like your story. As a native of Massachusetts, I've spent quite a bit of time in Vermont and have enjoyed it. I remember the ban on billboards going into effect. I didn't know Vermont finally got a Walmart. I moved out of New England in 1989. I'm sorry to hear that. I always thought that was cool of them to resist.
It is funny how the New England states have pretty different personalities. Vermont and New Hampshire are quite different, for instance, especially politically. I imagine people around the country lump the New England states together as being pretty much the same. Nice job. I enjoyed your piece.

Bill, I like your facts about Vermont. The one thing I would like to see if I were to visit, is the beautiful fall foliage (I don't know how it looks on high mountaintops.
Once again you bring up unique facts about a state you feature. Excellent work, Bill. Smile

The most expensive speeding ticket I ever got was in Vermont. You obviously did a lot of research for this one. Very nice job. Stay safe and stay healthy. Keep'em coming.

Dear Bill, I think you did the state just justice. (If I remember correctly, a lot of the French and Indian war was fought through this territory.)
What surprised me the most was to learn that this state was an independent country for 14 years ! That's practically a generation,

I like how you included the different aspects about Vermont; it's covered bridges, lack of skyscrapers and billboards. That gave the state originality, stand out from the rest. I didn't know snow golf was even a thing. Thanks for teaching me something new. Your picture is breathtaking.

Wow I did not know a lot about Vermont besides maple syrup and Bernie Sanders. I never would have guessed the cows. If asked that question I would answer Wisconsin. I would also have thought snowboarding was a Colorado finding. I've enjoyed learn probably useless facts, but they are so interesting at the same time. I'm sorry you're almost finished.

I'm looking for something else to mine, Blondie. Any ideas?

There are 62 national parks, what about a little history on each of them? Just a thought :)

Vermont became the last to get a Walmart store in 1996. "

Very interesting fact, Bill. Again, there was a lot here I did not know and I enjoyed this essay. The maple syrup is to die for though. Excellent. Thanks for the tour. Bob

All I knew about Vermont before I read your post was gorgeous fall scenery and maple syrup.. Now I'm much better informed.. Imagine Nessie having a North American cousin that lives in Lake Champlain!

Good post.

Stay safe

Vermont!! Ah beautiful, Autumnal Vermont. On my one and only trip O/seas which took me to USA and Canada, I was swept off my feet with this state's pristine beauty. The trees were in full Fall colours, the weather was cool but fine and I just loved it and wanted to stay. There was a very long covered bridge they said was rumoured to be haunted (aren't they all?) and an utterly adorable mother cat with three kittens in an antique store we went to. That was a highlight of the trip for me. (Being a cat person) Yes, Vermont has some very happy memories for me.
Thank you for giving me a reason to bring them into the light of day
again. cheers Cass

Bill,

WHAT??!!!! Don't you even try to tell me that Champ is not real. You, goof. The REASON they couldn't find him is that he was HIDING, duh. I mean, for a smart guy... man.

I guess you would also say there is no Loch Ness Monster? Such a silly guy. Thanks, anyway!

Everyone knows you have to say Champ?s name three times for him to appear.
