So intriguing! You must know your firearms, Melissa. I had to look up salvo. You really are a pro with creating dramatic scenes. I can just see that "lone snowflake" being spat out from the pre-blizzard clouds!

I had to laugh at this one. I'd say this a warning for sure. Old man winter saying it's almost time. My cat's outside water dish had a thin layer of ice yesterday. I thought to myself no, it can't be but it was.

I love the title and the artwork is perfect. I don't see a reference so perhaps it is your own photograph.
I particularly like the image of "spit" and the words burgeoning and first salvo.
I can't see how you could have made it better.

The clouds indicate what's coming. The snowflake was just the first salvo of what is sure to be a bombardment. People will be looking for that first snowflake. The warlike analogy works well for you. Nice alliteration with the S sounds. Best of luck in the contest. judi

Oh no! I can't believe how many places have snow. It is still so warm in FL it is hard to imagine snow anywhere. I wouldn't mind a little snow now and then. Well done, I hope you do well in the contest.
