This is an extremely rich poem about a walk down a path that looks as though it is leading into a tunnel. It makes me wonder what you meet when you come out the other end? My favourite line was:
I believe what I feel
There are so many variations on this, calling on the different senses or emotions. I only believe things I have experienced for myself (i.e. I have no confidence in media reporting anymore).

Simply penned and beautifully felt as you walked along that solitary grey road through the bush without fear notwithstanding the imminent rain: you were blessed by God's presence as you followed the light, meditating on your daily present lived life. I did like it all, amada! Delicate and good job!

A beautiful thought. I like that phrase " a sliver of light lit my way." You have a way with words and this shows your appreciation for the blessings that come even when the day is dark.

A beautiful and symbolic poem that meant a lot to me.
Thank you for sharing this philosophical and spiritual insight. The illustration is absolutely perfect for the words of the poem. I enjoyed the entire thing very much. MM

Nice... Extremely hopeful and encouraging. We can curse the shadow or we can rejoice in the sliver of light. How wonderful to simply remind us that, in a major way, it is our approach to faith that truly paves our way to happiness. Blessings!--Karenina

Hello Amada.
You have certainly committed to this poem the spiritual encouragement the assignment calls for.
Your last six lines express touching you in moving you from uncertainty to encouragement. I like the last two lines in particular because this kind of encouragement cannot be explained by mathematical formulas and scientific theories.
Well done and good luck in the contest.

thank you, Tobert, it took me a while to express those deep feelings in only two lines. I'm working in been a good poet/writer. I so appreciate your support.

I liked this. You had a great contemplative voice, and this feeling of reaching out along your walk through the woods for a spiritual connection, an epiphany. The last line is haunting; You cannot make these connections to the spiritual through science, it can only happen through faith. 'A thousand scientific explanations will not warm my soul.' We get that coldness, that analytical feel to the science, and the need for the soul to be warmed. It is a living thing. estory

The picture illustrates this poem perfectly. It's a lovely poem that left me with a really warm feeling. I particularly liked the phrase "menaced bad weather". I think you should have a stop after road and "last" should begin as a new sentence. Although "scientific explanations" is right in terms of sense I just don't like that phrase but I'm not sure why. Thanks for sharing. Kate
