What a dramatic picture and color presentation you selected! Your "fragile rope" metaphor is very effective. Your final stanza is quite thought provoking. Cheers- Joan

I like your poem very much.
I think the artwork is wonderful and very fitting.
(I even like your hat in your bio photo :)
Your beginning line is quite strong, which is important to keep folks reading.
The four lines that make up the ending are also strong...well done.

comments and compliments, sincerely appreciated. And liking

harm, trick is to figure which it is before too late.
Hope you and yours have a very safe and gorgeous Thanksgiving!

Hi Ronnie. How are you after all these years? Glad to see you are still writing great poetry.
I agree there are too many people who want you to be like them, which means they don't have to face up to or confront their own inadequacies. Isn't it all about the respect and trust we have for ourselves and others. Without respect there can be no trust. Love the imagery of the fragile rope, very creative.
Take care and stay safe, Pete

Yes! This is so true. I have found that experience in my life, too. Whether it is political or personal change, it sometimes needs to be fought for, and you know when you've succeeded by your gut reaction, as well as the feedback from those who truly care about you, beyond the trappings of opinions and such. I have a small circle of people who care about me, but even they keep changing, and I need to be willing to let them go if they can't get on board with the changes I am going through in order to grow. This poem is well written and straight to the point. No frills are needed and I like the bare-bones approach. The metaphor of the rope being broke with its corresponding picture is well chosen and adds much to the presentation. Have a pleasant day.
Take care,
Jesse

Wow, Ronni. Thanks for appreciating the comments and sharing I gave. I loved reading your encouraging reply, and am glad I read and reviewed your work.
My apartment was decorated by a close friend last night for Christmas and we sat and listened to Christmas music, and talked, and it was a most enjoyable and satisfying time. She is preparing, (ahead of time) a home-cooked Thanksgiving meal for us this Thursday, and I am grateful. We will spend it together, and I am ripe with anticipation. I wish you a wonderful Thanksgiving/Christmas holiday season, too!
Take care,
Jesse

Ronni,
Beautifully written words with a message that one has free will and choice and changing your life, philosophy, viewpoint has strength. Do not just follow the crowd but be willing to break out from the crowd.
You call for strength and wisdom to not to hold on to old ideas or beliefs.
I enjoyed this.

Mary

Ronni, you have crafted a wonderful thought provoking poem. I love poetry that makes one think and ponder the true meaning and even do some self examination. To live ones life at the beat of their own drum is profound. Thank you my dear friend for sharing this one.
