Great oriental feel to this, in the perfect balance, and a wonderful nature image of those pink lilies. What makes it unique is that last line, that question, what would Monet do? It becomes an illustration of mankind's interpretation of the world, of the landscape, his articulation of it's meaning and the emotions it inspires. The analogy between the waterlilies and Monet is perfect. Living in New York for many years I was lucky enough to have gotten a chance to Monet's exquisite Waterlily paintings at the Museum of Modern Art many times. It was like visiting old friends every time I saw them. Monet is one of my favorite artists and I have three prints of his paintings in my house; Under the Poplars, Le Coquelliquot, and Windmill at Reisberg. estory

You lived in NYC for many years. You went to college in Long Island.
I have visited NYC for 14 times in the 35 years. I have been to the Museum of Modern Art many times, too. Remember it's scale and the grandiose.
Originally I wrote a poem to a giant water fall picture I took in Iceland with a rainbow but someone else got ahead of me with a 7-7 flower. So I had to change to this one in a hurry. I will try to post the other one when I get a chance. It is fun to contribute to this Renga book.
