What a lovely poem.
This is both melancholy and yet hauntingly enchanting. Time has a funny way of affording us new perspectives on real memories or well imagined fantasies.
Whilst I don't agree the actual memory/dream itself changes, I do concede we sometimes find an alternative more acceptable approach to deal with the emotional abandonment we feel when we miss what we long for.
Close to your best. Well done.
A painter AND a poet. What a catch haha
Just my 2c worth.

Hello victortouche
I read your poem--- Could This Be
of how your memories change as time goes on after of someone left you in the breeze to make you feel sad and like falling leaves from a tree.

I do agree that memories change over time especially with relationships. Depending on the mood, the same memories can comfort or sadden. But while I thought the poem addressed a person, it ends addressing leaves.

This is a sweet and poignant poem about a lost love and the memories that surround it, as the narrator never gives up hope that someday, it might return.

Victor,
I loved the line in your authors note:
"The duality of memories"
helped to set the tone of your poem for me.
I think many of us, in our lifetimes have been in the situation you describe. Keeping alive a comforting memory of a person once loved- and now broken up with.
Reminders are all around us of that person- but it does not bring back the relationship or the person.
Good write!

Congratulations on your poem being recognized and on being named one of the all time best. Your poem has a nice flow. I felt a sadness coming from it as I read it, but maybe that was just me. This was a very nice piece. Thanks for sharing.

I get the impression that this is one of those poems that needed to be written to help ease some pain. Whatever, I could relate to it as I have written several of those myself over the years. May those old brown leaves be replaced by fresh new green ones sooner rather than later.

Hello Doug,
Memories are like that, stirred by a breeze,
they flit and fall, evoke joy and sadness.
Perhaps they are more,
connected somehow, perhaps.
Nice free-falling verse.
Best wishes.
Robert

Waoh! What a beautifully penned piece flowing freely with ease. I really had to read it over again to comprehend the mystery in the dual nature of the poem. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
