Hi Bill, thank you for highlighting Dakota and deadwood, loved Doris Day singing about the deadwood stage and Howard Keel in that movie, still one of my favorites. Cheers Colin

Thank you Bill, (yet another Wild Bill). Although I spent twenty months in North Dakota, it never once entered my mind to go to South Dakota to view any of the historic sights available to me. I had not at that time become the history buff I was to become and remain to this day. I regret that missed opportunity.

I understand it?s still there, nomi.

Yeah, but when I left North Dakota, I swore that I would never venture to that part of the world again. I left in 1964 and so far I have kept that promise.

Hi, Bill
There are two which's in your last paragraph?
I like this story the best Bill, because before reading it, I dismissed South Dakota as a state with a lackluster history. Wow! Was I wrong. The fantastic events are part of America's great history.
Good luck in the contest, ð??·. Stay well,
Cindy

Thanks, Cindy. I didn?t know which which to ditch, but I finally pitched the which next to the which which I left hitched to the sentence.

Lol. Have a wonderful week, Bill!

I liked the background information about "Dead Man's Hand." And I really liked that you gave us information about the Native American tribes. In 1975, the guy who won the first prize in a speech contest won by praising the patriotism of the Mt. Rushmore sculptures. At least, I got second.
Typos:
Laura Ingals Wilder, a (Ingalls)
a Deadwood Cemetary. (Cemetery)

Thank you for writing about SD.
A few weeks ago I lost a friend who lectured on Custer and had a chance to visit SD last year.
It was interesting to read more about the SD.
Good job
Mary

My wife and son and I camped in the badlands or on the edge of them back in 1972. When I woke up during the night it was like I ws sleeping on the moon. LOL I love South Dakota. Chief Crazy Horse statue was just an idea back then.
I loved MT. Rushmore, but missed seeing Trump's bust up there with the other greats. (Bullshit)
I still have some black gold jewelry from that trip.
Good job as usual, my friend. Bob

I really enjoyed that area too. It was my first time out of Michigan
other than Canada. Totally different. Thanks for the huge review.

I always wondered why it was called a dead man's hand now I know. It's said the two always traveled together, but never married which seems kind of odd. Your chapter is well-written, interesting. I look forward to reading more.

Bill,
First off, I really think you should share how your family drove across Lake Michigan. Curious.
Very interesting. I'm glad you got to see the carving as is since they want to change it now. Ugh.
1.) We traveled through the Badla(n)ds
2.) We visited Mount Rushmore to see the (p)residential carvings.
3.) Historic Old West legends like Wild Bill Hickok and Calamity Jane.
--> not a complete sentence
4.) Both he and Calamity Jane l(ie) at rest in a Deadwood Cemet(e)ry.
Thanks -- enjoyed!

Dear Bill, you presented some very interesting facts about South Dakota. Most people of course have heard of the presidential mountain and probably seen pictures of it before. But what I Found most interesting was the statistics on the Indian population, and the number of tribes represented
