Guess who? A six for this! I know, I haven't written that letter. I haven't written ANYTHING, having been in a physical and mental stupor over work, family, life . . . I apologize. THIS piece is wonderful, to say the very least. You have set up the suspense with the waiting and wondering why the woman didn't have a response. You are only getting BETTER, I clearly can see this and I am TRYING to motivate myself to return to some sense of normalcy in my life. I have been offered fulltime full year at my workplace and so many "side" things steal my free time. BUT . . . I know the importance of having things to call our OWN and am working on it. SLOW PROCESS FOR ME. This piece is exceptional and I PRAY I will be on the site more often. A lofty goal.
Hugs from a distance and I hope this finds you and yours WELL. Ohio is now almost ALL RED. A hot bed of CO-VID.
Love, Wendy

Thank you for the lovely review and generous stars, Wendy dear. I am honored as I always am! So good to see you. I've been sick with shingles and very tired from them and the anti-vitals. My eyesight is nearing the end too, so my life had been simpler and revolves around home and writing. I finished 'Double Blind' in October, but won't be publishing until 2021. I'm very happy with it and two of the chapters sit In the top five for the year, last I looked anyway. I had hoped that in spite of everything, I would finish this year strong. Still at it. Take care, dear one. Thank you for the wonderful review, once again!

In spite of the shingles and your eyesight, YOU CONTINUE to produce and you have such a talent! Let me know when Double Blind gets published so I can order one for myself and the library. I was actually on the site one time and wrote two things about a week ago, then . . . NOTHING. I will drag myself back to it. We all need to just TRY to stay in the game. Hugs from a distance!

I love everything about this. I am going to wait until tomorrow to read the second part. To be honest, I'm feeling a bit excited with the anticipation. It makes me smile at the child I often feel inside that I still am. lol I do tend to be silly some times. xoxo

LOL I waited until now to review the second part just so I could award it with a six since I absolutely knew that I would love it....but I just looked for Part II and, evidently, it has not been written yet. What a hoot! (I really should not be surprised though because stuff like this happens to me all the time.)

Of course it has to be black and white... because that's the one that carries the 'touchpoints' of the heart from years past, when the days were happy and life was simpler, yeah? ;) :) So, bring on the next part, cuz there's got to be a reason they didn't show up this year!! ;) Thanx for sharing part 1!! ;) Yvette

You have me curious. I wonder why he didn't leave any roses this year, or take his gifts. Has something happened to him? I'm hoping for a happy ending, and he'll show up with the roses in person.

You had me hooked on this and I was waiting for the ending. It is well written and beautiful both as Christmas entwined in a wonderful mystery.
You leave your reader to wonder not only who sent the roses all those years and why they are now missing.
Good story.
I love its a Wonderful Life on Christmas and also a Christmas Carol but it has to be Alastair Sim version. These are my Christmas Eve tradition,.

Wow, lucky you for receiving such nice roses every Christmas. I guess this is a piece of fiction. Good job for leaving a Cliff Hanger. I'm looking forward to the next chapter.

Well done.

Lovely to the max! Then years of love from a secret admirer helps bridge the loss of a beloved spouse. Could it possibly be from her husband via a devoted friend......?

This stirs emotions and has such the perfect hint of mystery! I am already wanting the character to find catharsis in this story! I am excited for Part 2!

Hi Sally,
It's only Monday, and I'm already down to 2 sixers left. But you've created such a great mystery here. It surrounds this poor widow with a secret admirer and a dozen roses every Christmas. You've included one of my favorite Christmas movies that I watch every year, "It's A Wonderful Life". ( I also watch 1965 "A Charlie Brown Christmas", 1985 "One Magic Christmas", the 1951 "A Christmas Carol" starring Alastair Sim, 1983 "A Christmas Story" with Ralphie and his friends, the 1947 original "Miracle on 34th Street", 1988 "Scrooged", and 1977 "Emmet Otter's Jug-Band Christmas".)
So she finally gives in, and makes him a gift of toffee, shortbread, and hot nuts. But suddenly, after ten years ... no roses. She discovers just how much she misses them, and Mr. Mysterious (whom she has begun to fantasize about). Hey, Sally, this could be a Hallmark Christmas hit. Why don't you novel it? It would be perfect for Sandra Bullock or Andie MacDowell. Don't you think?

"A lifetime of holiday memories are (entertwined) with thoughts of my husband, and of our children running around on Christmas morning in footed pajamas, screaming in delight." ...(intertwined) perhaps, you were thinking of "entwine".

I'm looking forward to Part 2.

Hugs,
Kimbob

You are the only one to catch intertwined. I was thinking of entwine. They are so similar. Thank you, dear. Jackson was working with an animated picture for this post and sent it live yesterday. I saw a review an hour later and gasped! Iwent ahead with it, even though it had not be fully edited. The moving photo didn't work either. Oh well. I appreciate your good eyes and for helping me so kindly. I'm delighted you enjoyed it and the movies clip in black and white. It must be black and white for a reason I can't fully explain. Sending you my best today as always and blessings,
    Sal XOs....
PS- We have the same taste in Christmas movies. Love, love Alastair Sim! Best Scrooge ever! :)

I love Christmas, Sally. "It's the most wonderful time of the year". Here's one of my favorite newer Christmas renditions by James Taylor. I hope you might enjoy it... "Who Comes This Night"

Hm, 10 years in a row, and when you finally gave in... the roses are gone with the wind or the winter spirit. Thank you for sharing and good luck with the next part
