So encouraging. I love it. Writing is hard and it's easy to get discouraged especially by harsh reviews. But when we believe in ourselves and put some effort we succeed. Nice piece.

It's uplifting and very encouraging for new & long time writers. As you've pointed out, it can be hard to be a writer. People say your work is rubbish, and it's easy to fall into the trap of believing it. You've given very good advice here, and I throughly enjoyed this piece.
I have one little suggestion.
I would change: "When I first started writing, I have made lots of typos. Sometimes I do."
Change: "When I first started writing, I had (or simply use made) made lots of typos. Sometimes I still do."
Just a kind little suggestion. Other then that, I think this is a perfect piece! I really believe you will do well in this contest. :)
