That had to be horrifying riding out a hurricane in a van. Luckily, you made it out fine. I had a teacher like that. She had such a soft voice that it'd lull me to sleep. 77 and 78 were definitely bad years. It's a shame about Miss. Dolly.Your chapter is well-written, very interesting. I look forward to reading more.

Indeed, Beth, your problems were minor compared to what else happened during that period. I don't remember the canibal. How gruesome. I do remember the Bundy murders, though. They were even reported in Europe. So now I'm looking forward to what is next.Ulla:)))

I remember the blizzard of 1978, it was a tremendous amount of snow here in Massachusetts. Your family story continues to be interesting and I am amazed by your experiences with tornados. We have had a few here on Cape Cod in recent years.

Thank you for the review and comments. I appreciate you sharing your experience with the blizzard. We were affected but we were concerned about all the people who were.

Oh, what a scary time! There were natural disasters, horrible criminals - (I didn't know that Bundy's killing spree was during that time) and then there was family tragedy with your husband's brother's divorce.
Seems like you had a very difficult time during these years.

Thank you, There are the bad things that happen and they seem to stand out, but I don't that time was worse than any other. I think news wise, as bad as it was, now may be worse. I do appreciate your comments.

What an interesting chapter. The hurricane season sounds rough and frighting. The children are growing like weeds, but all seem well and happy. Thank you for an enjoyable read.

Your girls were like my three. Christie seemed more energetic like my Charlie. I really enjoyed this. I was thinking in 77 you were lucky not have serious weather like Katrina. Now she was a bad girl. Your van would not have had a chance.
Sp glad you guys made it. There was a lady who attended my services. Her name was Grace King. I thought how nice to see that name again.
Thanks for sharing. Out of 6

Thank you so much for the review and comments. New Orleans is facing the fifth hurricane of the season as I write this, None as bad as Katrina, but it seem God's trying to send Sin City a message.

You certainly had your share of misery with hurricanes. I'm wondering if you were still there when Katrina hit. The children fared well in different schools and your family had a few sad things going on such as divorce and death. Yes, there were some bad things happening in fields afar and also some horrendous crimes. Thank God you were not affected.

You are really doing some catch up. I appreciate you reading all of these. This last one was pretty long. No we moved to Tennessee in 1987 so we weren't there for Katrina. My area got pretty flooded but the house is still there. I've not been back but once and not at all since Katrina.

Dear Beth, I am glad I never subscribe to a newspaper so I never knew that all of these grim and horrible stories were happening people freezing and crazy people killing and raping.
I am at least glad that use you survived the hurricane in the van; other wise you would not be here telling us this very special kind of story!

Thank you for the review and comments. You sound like my daughter Carol. She never reads papers or listens at news because because she does want to hear anything bad. Too bad for her she had to live with a family where everything wasn't perfect. LOL
