This place, real and imagined, really captures the journey, internal or external. The sense of movement kept me fascinated, and I loved the imagery.

Dear estory, I am so glad I found you! I like your poetry very very much. This particular poem carries me (as the reader,) down the path to the final resting place where the sun shines on the water.

Thanks again for the exceptional review and your encouraging remarks. I think the best part of this collection will be coming in the next several weeks: Country Roads, Appalachian Elegy, Thanksgiving, The Old Stone House, and Christmas. estory

This sounds like a mysterious and foreboding place where you let go of all your anxieties and allow the surroundings to renew you with a spirit that has vigour for the fight. I know a place like this in Greece, a little cove hidden from the main path, that was my sanctuary. I enjoyed the journey here, a very descriptive and uplifting write, nature has the power to heal us, love Dolly x

Thanks so much for the excellent review and your interesting perspective on the poem. I think everyone has their natural place they like to get away to. Sometimes we need to tune out the man made world and get back to that refreshingly wild feeling of nature. For me, it's waterfalls and mountain tops. Glad you enjoyed the poem. In many ways, its kind of my Tintern Abbey. Classic pastoral romanticism. estory

This is a lovely refreshing poem on the power of the triple waterfall that makes one fell a sense of cleansing and a renewing of the mind. I would like to visit this place someday.

Thanks so much for the excellent review and your encouraging comments supporting the poem. Glad you enjoyed this sublime little interlude...I think we all need to get away from the man made world sometimes and put an ear to the wild, refreshing sounds of nature. estory

What an amazing poem about redemption by a waterfall. I have walked to many waterfalls all over the world but have never had such a profound experience. I think I didn't realized it at the time. The power of waterfall is a direct reflection of the power of the nature as so beautifully described in your poem. We have many waterfalls nearby that I often bike to or walk to. During my trip to Iceland a few years ago, one of things I was impressed by was the numbers of waterfalls there.
Exceptionally written.

Delightful imagery with the poetic juxtaposition of dark and light, decay and renewal, purity of spirit and ultimate upliftment in the delicious closing stanza.
The ending is my favorite but these are equally my favorite:
as if in the living crystal tumult of the pool
bubbling up from this Baptismal font
in a moment of epiphany grace,
granted by the maker of these falls.
And I also really liked these lines:
I seem to walk over lost chances,
broken promises, disappointments
with every uncertain step I take
over the dead leaves scattered on the ground.
Great fluid free verse flow and fine phonics in phrasing.
Bravo.
Warmly, rd

Thanks again my friend for all your continued support of my poetry and I am glad you enjoyed this one too. It's always great to hear what specifically works and what doesn't. The more perspective the better. I really wanted to capture that feeling of transformation through nature, much as Wordsworth and Coleridge and Keats did in their classic pastoral romanticism. estory

You captured it well! :)

A bible teaching friend once met a ranger working in his habitat, and asked if he believed in God, the ranger said "of course", and one would, working in the Beauty of nature, but the ranger was overjoyed when it was revealed that the entrance to the presence of God was Christ Himself. I was asked the same question, why do you believe, I simply said, "look around". Beautifully written, blessings, Roy

To visit those triple waterfall and listen to their music can be a way to fill the spirit with glorious energy; thank you for writing about it, your your gift. I enjoy waterfall sounds, for me they are just canned in a tape. Glorious, celestial descriptions.

Comment from Gloria ....
An absolutely magnificent pastoral, estory. Every image of Glen Ellis is associated and elevated by the poet's heart and thoughts.
And in the end he emerges a a new man, washed clean by the Spirit.
A genuinely superior and mature free verse poem. :)

Thanks so much for your wonderful, encouraging remarks and I am so glad you enjoyed this poem and that it seems to have conveyed the exact feelings I wanted to get across. I love pastoral romantic poetry, still read Wordsworth and Keats and Coleridge, and to have dabbled a little bit into their world is fun. estory

This is a lively tribute to your special place. I think you have a slight typo you might want to fix: perhaps The water in the stream "comes" instead of come. This is very well written and I enjoyed it.
