I don't know where Silver Lake is...but I'm glad this was the winner and book me a ticket! I could use a little Zen right about now...

Fun to be finding a flurry of "14's" to boost in a row before I end for the day on this page.

I'll be back!

This 5-7-5, Dawn at Silver Lake, has the right set up and captures the sky in the lake's reflective surface as a new day rolls up.

Gypsy Blue Rose,
I believe you had me at
"pink clouds float on water"
My wife and I are both from Maine- and the beautiful scenes from rustic nature are a wonderful part of our years together. The image of the clouds is one that struck both of us as beautiful. Something to share with us is:
where we went to college in Maine (Presque Isle) the aurora borealis or polar lights in the northern sky were breath taking!
Congratulations on this wonderful piece.

Thank you very much, Sammie. I'm so happy this poem brought you good memories of you and your wife in beautiful Main. My favorite author is from Main too. Stephen King has lived in a mansion in Bangor Main but he is moving to Florida and he donated his home will be a nonprofit.

Thank you very much for your review and six stars!

Based on your author notes and the structure of your post, I may detect who you are. Regardless, your photograph of Silver Lake (have you been there?) is breathtaking. Do like your b-letter alliteration and your pink reference.

My home town has a Silver Lake Park. This park, established in 1917, includes a golf course, tennis courts, ball field, walking paths, and a reservoir within its boundaries. I biked there often. Before good refrigeration was common, businesses harvested ice from the frozen waters.

Best wishes in the voting, but I am competing in the same! (-:

Hello, this picture is from pinterest.com bit I was thinking of a real silver lake I went to when my kids were young. I read the 5/7/5s in the contest and I knew one was yours too lol I wish you well. Thank you very much for reading and reviewing.

This is an ambient Haiku with all the ambiance of sun, water and crisp breezes to remind us we are at the lake and I felt the fresh bracing air here, much enjoyed, love Dolly x

I love this poem! I think that the imagery is amazing. I love the phrasing that you use in order to paint a clear picture of your topic. You did an awesome job with telling a story using so little words.

A very well-written 5-7-5 poem describing the dawn at silver lake where the beautiful pink clouds reflects in the water on a crisp morning in the breezes.

Your poem took me out of my city apartment to a vacation site. That says allot for your poem. I cold feel the breeze, sitting on a porch, absorbing the beauty of my surroundings. The picture added to the experience. Your entire presentation gets a thumbs up.

Beautiful picture visually and in words and good use of alliteration. And you show us the reflection of the clouds as "floating on water." Hope you do well in the contest!

You have captured the scene perfectly in your 5-7-5. A fine ekphrastic poem that complements the picture and brings it to life with your alliterative and assonant first line 'Crisp breeze blows briskly'. Good luck in the contest.
