A very well-written poem about the horror real events where we were locked down for stop the spreading of the virus that was let loose to ruin everything that was still good. The leaders start to blame each other and the people go bankrupt.

Not really sure this meets the requirements of the contest... and it certainly does not appear to be 'a nod to Poe'. That is not to say I agree or disagree with the political statements you've presented... Thanx for sharing and best of luck! ;)

it's the author's use (loosely, granted) of Poe's "The Raven."

A timely concept and enjoy the historical context but the rhetoric is rehashed sound bytes. It doesn't sound authentic. A poem in defense of the President would bear more weight if it embodies the idea without the cliches. Unless, of course, you're trying to be educational, in which case it is too biased and a bit dramatic to be didactic. Punctuation was shaky. Enjoyed the self-deprecating humor at the end!

I guarantee you these are my thoughts, not rehashed anything, and I've a right to express them. This is my using (granted, loosely) Poe's The Raven to speak to what is an important time, more or less close to his meter. Am not being didactic nor am I teaching anything.
We all have our own opinions. These are mine.

It's hard not to judge this on political content, so I'll stick with the mechanics.

You should take more time with editing your work.

it wenty all around the world; [WENTY? Well, I just realized you were making it a comic rhyme with twenty and aplenty. Okay.]

we're in out masks, [Do you mean in "our" masks?]

You've got a great sense of humor ... for a republican. Just kidding.

This is a clever write and it hit the spot for me, it is inventive and a lot of fun. I loved the words 'aplenty' and 'wenty', and 'oughta'. The sarcasm and the tongue in cheek humour about the lockdown, I thought this a clever write and very entertaining, it's sure to be a WINNER! love Dolly x

I loved your political commentary in your poem. I like how you show the President making the right choices and being attacked as well as sharing your own frustration with the endless concern. Well written and a unique take on the contest prompt.

Yes, it seems all over the world. There haven't been any locally generated cases of the virus here for awhile now, (only international returning, and they're quarantined anyway) I guess the term is isolate or desolate, beautifully written my friend, blessings Roy
