This is so wonderful. The Bible says that God exists and is a rewarder of those who diligently seek him. I have found this to be true so many times. Your story made me cry, but with joy that there is a God who cares for us and hears our prayers. Best wishes, Marilyn

Well, first off, Thanks for letting us know about how God does work in mysterious ways, in such a wonderful true story & the added author notes...Wish that I had a six to bestow on, "Bottled Prayers."..Such a caring Revered Collier was that he returned it to you with much needed answer & for him to find this bottle with note enclosed on the shore of that Miami river,& with his professional expertise with these type of questions,is truly remarkable...Oh, by the way, great added, moving touch at the bottom of your poetry page.

This is an excellent poem! The story in it is wonderful and very touching. It asks questions that many people have asked God over the years, usually not as nicely as this poem asks. I loved your answer (or the Reverend's answer) it was simple and elegant. Your rhyme and rhythm were superb. Your descriptions were fantastic. I could picture a twelve year old boy, standing on the shore, shaking as he opens the bottle.
Excellent job.

Dean: I'm sitting here attempting to find clever and intelligent words with which to impress you in my review of your work. But, they seem to have gone on vacation so I'll just rattle on . . .Lovely, warmed my heart, filled me with reassurance that, yes, God does work in mysterious ways. I feel so lucky that I am privileged to read what you write. Linda

What an amazing story-in-a-poem, Dean. This is truly marvelous. Again there is a wee bit of trouble with the smoothness of meter, but again I stress the story is so sweet, the rhyme so great, it hardly matters. :)

Thanks, Dawn, and I fully realize that strong meter is one of my weaker suits. But, I do try, and I believe all of the lines contain 14 syllables. I also try to take into account stressed and unstressed syllables when I write poetry, especially if each line is as long as these were. I want the rhythm to carry the reader along with the story telling, and not the other way around.
I'll try to shore up the meter a bit more as I go along.
Thanks so much for the read & review, my friend.

Oh, that is the most beautiful pieces of
writing I have seen in a long time, if ever,
words so full of meaning that are surety touch every soul who
stops by to read your most engaging
poem set in rhyme and artistically falls
in soft folds down the screen to caress
the very heart.
Well done

That was so beautiful, Dean, such a simple thing like writing a letter and sending it in a bottle to God. How it helped you. Yes the Lord does work in mysterious ways, we must always remember that. Beautiful. xsx Sandra

To say something original about this poem-I'm sure you noticed the flow and rhymes and all that, and it was written
as an inspirational piece...hard. Excellent.

Your beautiful poem (non-fiction) brought tears to my eyes. So happy for you that God used Reverend Collier to instill your faith in you at such a young age. Isn't it wonderful to have something so precious as your grandmother's bible in your possession? I won't comment on your writing here, because it is always excellent. The content in this work deserved the reader's attention. Faith is the greatest gift we can ever receive. So glad yours brings you such comfort
