This is the complete truth about Donald Trump. He shouldn't be running. I think tthe way the media fixate on him is bad for the rest of the viable canditates. They just have too many people in the field. Maybe they should only allow five to run at a time then it would be easier to see their views and it wouldn't be such a circus. Donald Ttrump is just being loud and politically incorrect because it gets him heard and it is his true character. You are right the world is probably laughing.

Keep writing

Thank you, and I totally agree about Trump no running, but, and this is just my opinion, the other candidates have been pushed so far right, into Crazyland, that they're not much better, just less bad than Trump!

What must the rest of the world be thinking?

That the United States is still the greatest country on the face of the earth.

And, so much better than the country they live in.

Why else would they all want to come to America?

If the Land of the Free is so bad why not stay where they are at?

Because, even though it is constantly run down by others, they all know there is no better place than right here in the good ole U.S.A.

Oh, don't get me wrong, I didn't mean we're still not a desirable place to come, nut only that the hateful rhetoric spewed by Trump and others is embarrassing, and I think that singling out all Muslims as not to be trusted, when only a tiny fraction are radicalized, and banning them all is a shameful thing to say, and not what we stand for. Some people need SOMEONE to blame and fear, but isn't that what Hitler did?

political comments of this nature really interest me.
I like to see what other people think of what's going on in the world.
Well written political comment.
It's really good that, as a writer, you're blessed with the ability to write material like this

Donald Trump is frequently in the news over here in Australia, and often being sent up as a buffoon. It would be easier to laugh at him if he didn't have such a huge following of people who seem to take him seriously. Now that is scary.

Thank you much, TF, and I agree, it should be a funny joke, if it wasn't!

I'm almost worried reading this. I agree with every word you've written which might make me a 'bleedin' heart softie', but to think such a character has a genuine chance of leading the free world does make me wonder about politics in America. I'm on the other side of the ocean and yes, you are probably right that someone like Trump does give American politics the look of a three ringed circus, but we also know the system has thrown up some great leaders from time to time. Your poem is brave and honest from your (and many others) perspectives. If I were a Republican, I'd be thinking we're in dire trouble if he's chosen to run or not. He's threatening to divide the party if he's rejected by becoming an independent candidate. God save America, indeed.
Wonderful work here and hope they're all listening.

Thank you much, mfowler, and when he first said he was running, I kind of chuckled to myself, thinking nobody could possibly take this guy seriously, but I guess the joke's on me, huh?

I've always struggled to comprehend why in some states, a sixteen year old is allowed to handle a gun and yet they can't drink until their twenty-one. I thought that this was a well written piece, Mike on the gun situation in America and I can see why it makes you upset. I thought that your writing flowed well and I couldn't find any faults. Thanks for sharing...Jacob

Thanks much, Jacob, and I agree, the John Wayne, shoot-um-up gun culture here is completely insane!

I couldn't agree more with what you said. I lived in Europe for almost 12 years and in Asia for a year and a half. Contrary to what many Americans believe, we are not very well perceived by many foreign countries. They see us a bunch redneck bullies who think our way is the only acceptable way. They do not understand our love of guns ( as I do not) nor why we have to be so pushy with everyone else.

And Mr. Trump, more than any of the other Republicans ... and a few Democrats) seem to go out of their way to ingratiate that perception. A lot of Americans say "Who gives a shit about what they think?" In today's interwoven world, we should give a shit. Our arrogance will someday come back to bite us in the ass if we aren't real careful.

Nice piece of writing!

Rhyming couplets, with no SPAG that I noticed, and an oddly vehement distaste that is in it's way as unnerving as the buffoon(Hillary's red herring)
himself...excellent writing...

you did an excellent job writing this poem about what other countries think of us and Donald trump's run as president. I think other countries disrespect us anyway no matter who is in office so I want somebody that has a backbone in the White House.

Thank you, swj, and to me, there's a big difference between having a backbone, and being an ignorant macho blow hard, and frankly, I don't understand why this president is perceived as somehow soft, just because he thinks before he acts, unlike his predecessor.

Hi Mike,

Strong emotions and messages coming out from this piece. I am not American and I can tell you that it is very difficult to take a country seriously when the things like you have laid out here are in such abundance. We all have out crazies and looneys.

You know in the UK, not even the regular police are armed? They don't live in fear of terrorism, in the last 5 years not one of the police has been a victim (as MR T), although in the last 5 years 5 Americans have been shot by their DOGS!

It's not funny though and I think serious damage is being done.

A very good, clear and thought provoking piece.

Thank you, giraffmang, and you're right, it's not funny, it's truly insane--the wild west mentality is ingrained so deep in us, I guess!
