Hello Brooke, your poem about brown eyed Susans was a refreshing, bright smile. Was fun to read and rhyme, a great start back into the groove on FS. The picture compliments your poem. A breath of sunshine. : ) Judy

adewpearl - I dated a girl way back when whom I called brown-eyed Susan. I don't remember her winking at me but she did beguile me. Your poem reminded me of her. I enjoyed it. Charlie

Charlie, I bet she winked ;-) Glad to remind you of a beguiling lassie from your past - and since you've been married 38 years, we're really talking PAST!!! LOL Thanks, Brooke

I like your description of the flirtation between the flower and the narrator. Good personification of Brown-eyed Susan. (I especially liked these words for how they described her and her flirtatiousness: winked, beguiled, wild, bewitching.)

I also enjoyed the phrase "lemon yellow sea." Very powerful image.

Good rhymes: sea/me, shy/eye, power/flower. It is interesting to note how a flower can have power through its beauty. I also liked the shy/eye rhyme, because shy people often can't meet someone's eyes. I suppose that it is because eye contact can open one person's inner being to the other person, invoking feelings and passion (here, at least.)

Enjoyable poem. I like reading your poems about nature because they remind me to observe the world around me and not stare at the computer screen all day!

yes, there is not much charm in the computer screen, is there?
Writers must experience the world lest they run out of things to write about! Thanks so much, Brooke

I am so glad these terrific flowers are easily
propagated by the elements and birds, for my thumb
is no shade of green. Your poem perfectly describes
the golden, happy, flirtatious personality of these
sunny gems. I happily watch them multiply! Carolyn

Carolyn, that's one of the reasons I love wildflowers so much - no talent needed on my part, no money spent, no hard work - all the enjoyment with none of the fuss and bother! :-D It's one of those things that defies the no pain/no gain saying. Thanks, Brooke

Whimsical wanderings from the
creative heart of a very
talented poet. You breathe life
into brown eyes Susan. This is
another fine story that proves
your creativity with themes and words.

Very pleasant poem. Beautiful words, good rhyming. The tempo is tunning the same all the time.
the picture and colours of the writing are so matching and so beautiful, that I return once in a while just to glance on them.

Very cute, and you're right, whimsical. You've put a sort of twist on it, as if the flower were a lover (or the like) and then turned it back to a flower. The way you addressed it as such was wonderful. I must say, this was a nice little start to my early morning escapades:)
Great job!!
Jaded:)
