I really liked this poem. It reminds me of the snow I saw as a child, it's only snowed once where I live, but it was one of my favorite memories. Wonderful job my friend.

Linda, This is a most enjoyable poem. I can certainly relate to the long white winters having lived above the Arctic Circle in Alaska managing a lodge in a fly in only village. In Alaska they say there are only two seasons, green and white. Excellent job on this one and you've got me wanting snow so I can have that cup of hot cocoa! Have a good one, Judy

Great job! Good choice of words and vivid imagery. Each line flows so well and is publishing worthy in some book or magazine. I like the subject matter as well. Splendid job!

Linda;
I like how your poem starts right off with an alliteration that sets the mood and scene of the writing.
A fabulous writing that I enjoyed so much reading even though it did make me quite cold while reading it.
The imagery is fantastic, distinct and clear as it is very descriptive demonstratively and also very exquisitely expressive throughout: "nightfall comes early darkness deepens (alliteration) streetlights become spotlights making each falling snowflake twinkle like a white diamond". This is so picturesque and with a visualization that is so distinct. I could actually see the snowflakes christening as they fall from underneath the lamp light.
Thank you so much for sharing and posting such a lovely writing with everyone to read and may the good Lord be with you always Linda.

Nice! I love your ending.. I could easily picture all your words in my mind, you wrote them well. I just spent my last 2 winters in upstate New York, and this brought it all back to me!

Hey there Linda
Cuddling up next to you with hot cider would be one of my greatest temptations. I loved the poem. I am crazy I guess, because I love the winter, snow and cuddling next to a roaring fire

Hi, Linda,

I would love to enjoy a mug of cocoa with you! (*.*)

Great poem to get me in the mood for winter. However, the only snow I'll seeing here in the desert is what I see on TV or the movies or FS!

Great job.

Cheers & Blessings
Keep Smilin'.... Jax

Yeah, Jax, it is difficult here in Florida, looking at palm trees (even those dressed in Christmas tree lights) and attempting to see a lot of snow around you . . . oh well, here I am. Thanks for reading and commenting. Linda

White is the colour of milk and fresh snow, and, as a symbol, represents purity, innocence, perfection, etc.

When snow covers everything from roads to tree tops, it is if everything is being cleaned and readied before the new spring growth comes.

"helping us find our way / in the glaring blizzard of life."

Effective use of alliteration in darkness deepens and streetlights ... spotlights.

A cleansing poem.

Cheers,
DW

Linda: I love Norman Rockwell pictures! When I was a kid, my grandmother would always buy the latest copy of The Post Magazine where he always designed the cover. It is one of the few warm memories I have of my childhood! I still love his pictures. I forgot to add fresh baked chocolate chip cookies (or peanut butter)to my poem with that hot cocoa/cider, etc. Be well and travel safely. Linda
