It is frightening. I wish your son-in-law well in his recovery and he will be included in the prayer candle I light each and every morning (have done so for years!) We are trying to isolate as best we can as my husband and I are both laid off now. I want to see my grandchildren, but talk on the phone with them. It is now going on a month and I was used to being with them, hugging them at least a couple times a week. YOUR poem is exceptional. I wish I had a six for it. I am sorry. Pardon my words, but this damn virus has us all on hold and on edge and all we can do is pray for the scientists and people who are so desperately trying to put an end to it. Me, being ME worries it will rear its ugly head and make a return.(And I am paranoid that they are not telling us all about the origin of it. I only pray it was not bio-terrorism gone bad!) If they are NOT telling us to protect us and to avoid mass hysteria, I understand, but I have real doubts that this came from a single sick bat. O.K., enough of MY rambling. EXCELLENT poem and sincerest prayers for your son-in-law and all your family as he recovers.

Hello Janet, inspired by this awful pandemic, you have written a poem that is almost like a dream sequence. Good free form which we do not see often on FS. Glad your son-in-law is recovering. This is a worrying time for us all. I expect you, like me, are in isolation. We don't know when the end will come, but it will. Hope the rest of your family are well - take care and stay safe. Love Dorothy xxx

That is exactly how it spreads. One little brightly coloured ball turns into so many until they are everywhere. I'm so sorry your son-in-law has gone through this awful illness, but I'm glad he's recovering now. Your poem, although about a deadly pandemic, is very cleverly written and warns us all how easy it is to pass around and catch. Well done, Janet!!!! Sandra xxx

I like how you helped raise the level of awareness for Chris with a symbolism. you have taken something big is very real, cart and relevant and meet us Palmer about how easy it is if she something any subject and yet not realize the enormity, the domino effect, the repercussions of such a small thing which may in fact be inviting in appearance, but mindless, destructive, and deadly.
I pray for a safe and speedy recovery for your son .
Blessings,

Great to see some blank verse on site again. How suitable it is for a grave subject. I like the lightness of your verses, the joyful innocence gives added impact to the seriousness of the situation.
Technically, the blank verse is all good, except for the repeated end rhyme, 'room'. Perhaps you could change the first one to 'floor'.

Yes, my grandchildren were symptomatic, but I am glad to say, they are much better now. They resumed homeschooling this week. Our business closed two weeks ago and that is now a new and growing concern added to the pot. Just like your poem.

I'm glad we know the Lord. :)
Sending you my best today as always, and praying for us all.

Thank you Sally for your thoughtful and encouraging review. I'm glad your grandchildren are doing well but I'm sorry about your business. My daughter lost her job just before all this started so it is difficult times for them as well.

I appreciate your kind comments and your insight. I too am glad we know the Lord.

Thank you for sharing this beautifully written poem about COVID 19. The way you wrote about how the pebble just rolled to you and then others joined and spread to neighbors explains how innocent those who receive and spread it truly are. God bless you, stay safe and healthy.

This work has reached the exceptional level

This poem is absolutely superb in every respect. Using the innocent-looking, colorful, attractive little pebbles as symbols of the deadly Coronavirus--then having the speaker unwittingly "share"-- was nothing short of brilliant. GREAT job on the blank verse. I hope your son-in-law will soon be completely well.
