I admired the echoing sounds in the first and last stanzas that intensify the message of this sad poem. I am sorry to learn that it describes your family member. I did not get the inference in "nineteen" but still found your poem quite compelling. Warm regards- Joan

Joan E.: Highway 19 runs north and south on the west coast of Florida. My eldest daughter and her husband may be moving away from both their families so that we can't see them drink themselves into oblivion. They were married for 18 years then separated for two years. Upon a joyous reunion, they began drinking every day and it is a big part of their life now. They seem so happy but we all know that alcohol bubble will eventually cause them even more problems. Thanks for reading and commenting. Linda

Thanks for the clarification about "nineteen". I hope that a miracle wakes the "happy" couple before it is too late. : ( -Joan

Linda; Brilliant objectivity
+ Rhyming words are contingent to the meaning and concept of each line which importantly makes the rhythmic flow of the poem much easier and relative.
+ Good use of enjambment which is the running on of a thought, idea and concept from one stanza and line to the next without a syntactical break.
+ Rhythmic meter (variable syllabic count per line), cadence, timing and tempo along with movement all the helpful in making the reading clear, fluid and very easy.
+ Metaphorical imagery in the lines give a very vivid description and obvious expression where one objectivity is used to mean something else: "hollow echo from the wood(Did you mean would or word?) isolation in a bottle full throttle to know where(internal rhymes)". This metaphorical line could also mean that from drinking alcohol, may lead to a disastrous end, very quickly.
+ Poetic evaluation and assessment: I enjoyed this writing very much and it's totality as it explains very much in a little amount of words. Some spelling errors may be in question but only determined by the author's significant meaning.
+ Thank you for sharing and posting and may the good Lord be with you always.

liquid love - great alliteration as well as vivid imagery. I wouldn't want to be one of those people who live to drink.

Teresa: unfortunately, this poem is about my daughter and her husband. After 18 years of marriage, they separated for two years. They are back together now and act like newlyweds. The only flaw is that alcohol seems to be the glue that binds them. And, I understand that they are planning on moving a couple hours south of family so that we don't see what they are doing. I am so disappointed in her. She was my perfect child and we have been close for years but that has ended. Thanks for reading, Teresa.

As the Beatles said, "All of the lonely people...where do they all come from." The bottle is not ionly about the contents but the brain trying to keep hold of life.

Many couples spend a lot time going to bars and drinking supposedly to forget their problems and to socialize they say. They have all ended up divorced

Erica: this is about my daughter. She and her husband of 18 years separated for two years. They are back together now and act like honeymooners. However, the glue which seems to hold the marriage together, is alcohol. I am saddened. Thanks for reading and commenting. Linda

Funny, how one could think he's having a good time all by himself in a bar, or I suppose he's the last one and the others have gone. Like the alliteration in "liquid love" The second verse is the most telling and my favorite. Nice rhyming too. Well thought out and crafted. Les

Thank you for reading, Glasstruth. This is about my daughter and her husband. After 18 years of marriage, they separated but they are now back together, acting like newlyweds. But, the glue holding them together is alcohol and a lot of it on a daily basis. So sad. livelyinda

I don't know why people think they have to drink to have fun. Well maybe they do, but I don't and evidently neither do you.
It is a sad hollow life with your head in a bottle. To each his own I suppose. Nice poem Linda. Well said. Nancy

A rather sad piece of writing telling of a couple who drink alcohol in order to keep up the relationship. They avoid the rest of the family so they wont notice. Not a good way to live. 'Liquid Love' a good title for a union that is maintained only by alcohol. A family poem Linda? Biographical - you do not say. Sad but well written. Warm regards Dorothy x

Alcohol is noted for being anti-family. It has broken up many a home. Your poem does a good job of describing the damage of excess drinking. Well Written.

I am a bartender. So I have seen those liquid lovers. Some come alone and some with a friend. They might tell me the problems or just shy away. I just love the picture it goes great.

mbagby23: this poem is about my oldest daughter, age 46. After being married for 18 years, she and her husband separated for two years. They are back together now and act like newlyweds but the glue that is keeping them together, is drinking every night and all weekend. There is rumor that they are moving away from both families, away from scrutiny, so that they can drink in peace. It makes me horribly sad. Thanks for reading, mbagby23
