I think this is such a fun read! I think a similar thing about Tom and Jerry! tom is simply a housecat doing what housecat's do! Ridding the house of mice. though their antics are comical and their methods not quite those of regular cats, they are just cats doing what cats do

Thank you. I almost tood Tom and Jerry but decided on Sylvester instead. I'm a cat lover, so naturally I will take the cat's side.

What a fun read this is. You raise some valid arguments on Sylvester's behalf. Yes, he does what all cats naturally do, but you humanize him with human feelings of jealousy and vengeance, which only delights the reader more. Well done. Good luck in the contest.

Thank you. I have six house cats, so I know they have feelings of jealousy at times. I try to give them all equal attention.

Hi there,

I enjoyed your piece and you put across your case very well indeed. The cat is only obeying its very nature and Tweety was always goading him anyway. lol

Nice work

I agree wholeheartedly. Sylvester was only doing what any cat would do under the circumstances. He was Granny's favorite before Tweety came along and then Tweety usurped his authority as the main pet of the house. So I forgive Sylvester thoroughly and now see him for who he really is...a cat wanting to want all cats to want, a nice morsel of food to eat whether it be a bird or other snack.

Thank you. I'm happy someone besides me is on the poor cat's side. I'm glad you liked the story.

LOL, I love what you have written for this contest. I think it should have a lot of voting power from the cat community! Good luck in the contest. Twitty was always so innocent looking. You are right, a cat does what a cat does. Good job, Terry.

Excellent choice. Well done. You offer a solid defense.
I didn't enter the contest, but had I, Yogi Bear would be a good one - a man-killing monster who would prefer easy pickin's - pic-a-nic baskets. But I guess he would be disqualified by the committee in that Yogi wasn't perceived as a villain.
How about Tom and Jerry? Another maligned cat.
Good luck in the contest.

Thank you. I almost took Tom and Jerry but decided on Sylvester instead. I considered Elmer Fudd too. He is perceived as a villain for wanting to shoot the wabbit. Lol

Well, I believe you have met the guidelines of this contest, you did defend Sylvester for his actions and explain that he had once been Granny's favorite. And you used Sylvester's dialect, which I enjoyed.

I'm a huge Looney Tunes fan myself. Bugs Bunny is a favorite!

Good luck with the contest.

Looking at it from that perspective, yes, we have to sympathise with Sylvester. It is what cats do. I used to love that cartoon, but I think it's time to let Sylvester get a hug from Granny. I enjoyed your little story, well done and good luck in the contest. :)) Sandra xxx

This was a fun, lighthearted story with a message of tolerance and understanding. Cats do what they do and one should not tar everything or one with the same brush. Same goes for humans too. Reading this story made me realise that such shows as Loony Tunes would not be allowed on the screens today - not politically correct or too violent. It was a fun cartoon, back in my day. Now even acknowledging the colour black is seen as wrong. Too many wrongs don't make a right. Thank you for sharing.

Thank you. If you stop and think about it, most of the cartoons we watched had violence. Elmer Fudd, hunting the rabbit, Wile Coyote chasing the roadrunner Yosamete Sam shooting those varmints, etc. You can still watch these cartoons on the internet.

I may even have some cartoons on dvd. Tom and Jerry :-)

It is easier to forgive the devil when he is in sweet, furry, cat form and purrs on your lap. You are definitely a devil's advocate when you can't see past the purr to the bird-hungry beast.
