Beautifully serene. Lovely combinations of Nouns and adjectives, and the verbs working behind.

''reveries, tall pines, and magnolia trees;''

What beauty. Those are of the reasons why this delivers.
Well done.
Have a great day.
My best.

Melissa,
This is a well written group of aabb quatrains. It seems like a great place to both read and write poetry. Poetry and nature can surely calm you as much as classical music.
Keep writing and stay healthy

My thoughts leapt back to a summer in my twenties when I set aside a warm summer afternoon to immerse myself in a volume of Emily Dickenson's poems. It was luxurious and divine to spend the day with only her! Your poem spoke to that thrill!--Karenina

Melissa,

What a pretty, pretty poem! I wanna take a turn in that hammock when she's done, please!! My girls stayed the night last night and the littlest one hardly slept at ALL. And THEN we all got UP at about 4:45 am. WHY? I would love to know that myself. Yuck.

So then, of course, they were bouncing off the walls. Why does this experience do the exact opposite to adults and children? I was slowly sinking deeper and deeper into my seat while the were winding tighter and tighter and TIGHTER! hahaha At one point they actually got behind the loveseat and pushed it out from the wall to play behind it! Who does that? Crazy little kids.

Anyway. This looked and sounded like a romantic and wonderful little moment in nature. Thank you for the respite. *smile*

I have a couple of suggestions for you - which I'm pretty sure you will hate. hahaha

1.) Her words are chosen carefully,
entrancing you so peacefully,
** I'd go full-on robyn-style here. *smile*
--> entrancing you so flair-fully

2.) To finish the poem off with a firm close, consider using the following couplet pulled from other lines:

With soothing words that pull you in,
a sleepy poet there begins...
**

But I don't expect you to agree. Thanks for the smiles!

Enjoyed this a LOT!

Love it! And of course, inspiration often comes when our brains are sleepy and just below full wakefulness. My favorite lines were:
"her words resemble violins
that soothe your brow with calming strains"
I love how you incorporate the garden, too, with "magnolia trees" and that "wafting wind." Beautiful!!

Hello Melissa,

You did a fantastic job with this one. I could only find one minor mistake, it simply wasn't long enough. I wanted to read more, you had me so relaxed that I nearly fell out of my chair...LOL

This is and always has been my favorite type of poetry, the rhyming quatrains. That's how thousands upon thousands of our songs are written.

I haven't been around much lately but I'm glad I got to read your peaceful poem.

Keep up the good work...Happy Easter to you and yours...Bill

Oh Bill, you have made my day with your lovely comments. I am delighted that you enjoyed it and felt that drowsy effect :). Intentional. So glad to see your name pop up and that you have bounced back in to FS... I must avoid putting you to sleep so that you bounce around here some more ;). LOL. Thanks so much.

Yes the poet always has a job to do, they produce different ways of looking at things, as a writer of the depths of things seen in God, the wisdom seems to be stimulated purely by pondering and musing, it develops the the dimensions, and helps understand the depths and majesty of God. Beautifully written Melissa, great job, a nicely paced tetrametric poem, smooth, articulate and aabb rhymed, well done, blessings Roy

Hello Roy. Thank you, my friend. So glad you recognized my intentions in my.. job to do.. Only the Lord can anoint us to be a conduit of His words, and we know they will not return to Him void... Thanks again.

A beautifully relaxed poem, I want to be in that hammock. I really felt soothed by your words, and calmed too, not an easy state for me to get into, thank you very much.
