You ably met the Haiku format of 5-7-5 with your posting for this contest.

Given the environmental crises the world seems to be now facing, your entry is most timely and sadly too accurate.

Mother Nature seems to have a mind of her own doing her own thing. Your line "rhyming winds bellow" makes one think that there is rhyme and reason to whatever course she takes and in the end all will Be well

Thank you, Susan, for taking the time to read give an awesome review. That line was meant as a warning bell for those who heed them. All is never well in these situations. The best we can hope for if we stay is to come out alive.
    God bless.

A great entry for the contest, and timely as well with hurricane's threatening the coast of florida. Your words and picture say it all. The power of nature is awe inspiring. Best of luck in the contest.

Well done with this very presentable haiku, it follows all the rules very well indeed. Not only is the artwork smack on, but the wording likewise is very illustrative, well done, good luck, blessings, Roy

Hi Mystery Poet,
I can't say if your poem qualifies as a Haiku. This poetic form has too many rules, and I gave up on it a long time ago. Hopefully, the Haiku police don't pull you over.
I like your 5-7-5 poem though. I think hurricane season has begun. We are getting tropical storm Erin tonight, just wind and rain overnight, they say. But Florida has to deal with Dorian now. She is a category 1, last time I heard. Hopefully, nobody will be injured. Our own Ellen lives in Florida, barking dog, a terrific writer!
You have the syllable count correct, and it's definitely a nature theme. I know they are both factors for a Haiku poem.
Last year, we had a cloud formation that looked a lot like your picture. Dark and scary. Quite ominous. It approached Saint John from the northwest, and zipped out over the Bay of Fundy without opening up on us. But what a sight to behold! I'll never forget it.
Good Luck in the contest!
cheers
Kimbob

Thank you for the awesome review, my friend. We have had 3 bad hurricanes in Houston since 1982. Allison, Ike and recently Harvey. I lost my home to Harvey as well did my parents and both sisters and My Niece and her family. Harvey was relentless. Hopefully, it will be many years before we receive the next one here in the Houston area.
    God bless

Wow! That's too bad. I'm sorry you had to deal with such tragedy. Did insurance cover the damage? But I bet you still lost a lot of precious things that can't be replaced. I hope you and all your family has rebounded.

No, I didn't flood insurance. But FEMA was a great deal of help. I bought a house and moved my aging parents in with me.

Wow! That must have been so difficult. Good for you though. I bet it made you a stronger person. Still, I wish you hadn't gone through it.

You have made excellent use of all of your syllables in this haiku that deals with the side of nature that frightens and destroys. The artwork is very fitting.

What I find so terribly interesting about nature, is it has no conscience at all. For all existence, nature has changed the contours of the earth and humans play no part nor have any control over it. All we can do is hold on tight and hope we survive. This is a good entry. Best wishes.
