Oh, this will be an excellent time stop!
The homes of rich and poor both hide abuse and in those days it wasn't even considered abuse, necessarily. Just disciplining unruly wives and children.
There was nowhere for the women to go to escape, either. I hope you are planning something good for the pompous ass!

I was surprised to see the law on hitting wives didn't change in England until the 1970s! How disgusting is that!! Lots in store, so stay with me. :)) Thank you so much for your heartfelt review, Beck, I'm so pleased you are enjoying this one. Thank you! :)) Sandra xx

You were right (the) first time, Mildred.

Well you(,) what you...

'I'm here(,) Mother.'

Well, that's an arrogant SOB, isn't he? Love the courage these women exhibit throughout the piece. The entire write is smooth and well pace with excellent dialogue and insight into their world. I thoroughly enjoyed reviewing this well penned piece. Just a few nits I took the liberty of addressing above, but nothing at all major. This is a crisp, clean write with strong emotion and purposeful content. Well done, Sandra. Thanks for sharing. Looking forward to the next installment.

I'm always pleased when an error is pointed out, Janelle, that is so kind of you to do so. I love your reaction to Gladys's husband, lol! No, he isn't very nice at all. Thank you so much for this lovely, helpful review, it's lovely to have you along. Big hugs, my friend. :) Sandra xx

This is horrible. Not your writing the circumstances that Glady lives in. I don't like abusers of any kind. You are doing a wonderful job with this. I can't wait to see where you take this. Mildred a superhero!!!!

This type of atmosphere is nothing new toward military elite. They normally have a rotten home life. You kept my interest. Shameful some people allow this attitude to rule. Well done Sandy.

Thank you so very much for all those shiny stars, my dear Chuck. Those men were too full of themselves and their wives and children suffered because of it. Thank you for another lovely review, my dear friend. :) Big hugs, Sandy xx

Wow, Sandra, this is potent stuff. What a comlete ****hole that man is. I'm sorry, I don't want to swear, but I ask you? It's a beautiful write. Mildred is just something else. I'm glad that Gladys seems to be okay. As you know, I love this story. Can't wait for what's next. A big hug. Ulla xxx

Thank you so very much, Ulla, for this wonderful review and the exceptional 6 star rating! LOL, I had to laugh at first sentence, he most certainly is. But most so called, gentlemen of that era were like that. Nasty toe-rags!! Big hugs back, my friend. :) Sandra xx

Grrreat description of the admiral. Excellent action. Love the new Mildred but must ask why and how she changed so much. Due to time travel effects... or what? Anyway, this book is off to an exciting start. :)

Thank you so very much, my wonderful friend, for this wonderful review and the shiny stars!! Veronica will find Mildred has changed a lot in her confidence, but her normal sweet self will still shine through. How and why? Haven't the foggiest yet!! LOL But, she has to be stronger for the job in hand. Whether it's the powers, or something else. We will have to find out together. :)) Thanks again, dear friend. :)) Sandra xx.

How about this? Mildred has more courage now because all the influences that made her timid do not yet exist here, so she is how she might have been had she not lived that life. In other words, she's been born again in a way. That shows the real Mildred was always inside her, but never learned how to be herself, due to life experiences in the 21st century. Back in time, she's now free to be herself, and she likes it! She'll be a big help to the suffragetes. :)

Hey! That's not bad! I'll have to work on that. It does sound logical, doesn't it. Well done you!!! :))

If there were any errors, I didn't see them as I was so caught up in the story. That poor woman to be treated that way, and in front of others, too. What a monster!
Hurray for Mildred. I didn't think she had it in her.

Bless you, Yvonne! Thank you so much for your lovely review and the shiny stars. Mildred is coming back a much stronger young lady, but will not lose her charm and sweet ways. I'm glad you liked her in this. She will surprise Veronica a lot in this book. Thank you again, my dear friend. :)) Sandra xx

Good for Mildred. You did a great job with this chapter, Sandra. Charles is one self-righteous, egotistical excuse for a man. I'm with Mildred. I didn't like him from the start. Your ending was great--lots of possibilities. I sense bad things for Charles. Thanks for sharing. Jan

He is, and it was quite alright for men to be like that in those days. Veronica and Mildred won't like it. Thank you so much, Jan. It's lovely to have you on board, and I'm delighted you enjoy the story. Big hugs, my friend. :) Sandra xxx

What a big bully! I guess women had no defense back then. You did what your husband wanted or else. The only lucky ones were the ones who married kind gentle men. On two occasions I have interceded between a bully and a female victim and both times they cowered away when they saw my reaction to their bullying. LOL I was filled with rage both times myself! Mildred reacted quickly and it surprised the
Vice Admiral so he withdrew from the situation. Now the young Tommy must face him alone. This is probably going to touch on many areas where women suffered. Those suffragettes' were very brave to stand up for women's rights. Well done Sandra. :) Nancy

No, they didn't. I researched the law on this, and was amazed to learn that men were allowed to hit their wives up til the 1970s! That is dreadful! Women really do have to put up with a lot of nonsense from men, and a lot of pain, it seems. Thank you, Nancy, for your lovely review. I'm glad it stirred you up!! :)) LOL. Sandra xx

That's right! Women's Lib closed the chapter on that page. LOL We are slowly gaining on them but we will never see equality until they let us. LOL Good work dear. Nancy

A great chapter Sandra, which included hints of suspense, some surprises and so many emotions such as anger, fear, disbelief as well as a demanding attitude. It was a delight to see Mildred stand up to Glady's husband- he may have an important sounding name and family history but he is an arrogant idiot in my books. He definitely needs some shaking up. And poor Tommy, he seems to be stuck in the middle, as they say. It is his father's wealth that gives him status, but I suspect he would rather protect his mother. What a dilemma? I eagerly await the next chapter. Thanks so much for sharing my friend, hugs from across the ocean.

I just cannot imagine living the way those poor women did in those days. I know that even today some cultures still treat women like third-class citizens. How sad is that? Thank you so much, Ali, for this lovely review, I really appreciate your words. Big hugs, my friend. :) Sandra xxx
