You have accurately and dramatically portrayed an event that probably happened all too often during the Vietnam War where American GI's abandoned their Vietnam mistresses. I thought you also did a good job portraying the discrimination against so-called half-breeds or children of Anglo and Vietnamese parents in Vietnam society, which most Americans probably do not know about.

This is a very strong entry in the "strong character" contest, and I enjoyed (if that's the right word) reading it. It is very believable. Kim's situation is heartrending, infuriating and nearly hopeless, but she remains strong.

I think one can enjoy the strength of the writing whilst still being appalled by the events that writing describes. Thanks for a great review.

I see by the many reviews that almost everything has been written about your great story. I'll add my little blurb, anyway.
What impressed me was the way that you got inside this Asian girl's mind, and kind of in her own broken English.
Your transition from reality to her hallucinations was seamless, a difficult job.
Having been there, this is a story that I saw repeated over and over. In spite of numerous examples, these girls were so desperate to escape that environment that they took a chance on the words and promises of the GI's.
However, two of my buddies and my nephew, married those girls and brought them home. Two of the marriages are still working.
Great story, congratulations.

Good for your buddies and nephews. They are the kind of men that makes me proud to be an American. Although I am a total and complete pacificist, I am pro-military--for higher pay and child care. Thank you for validating the historicity of this story; that was important to me. Thanks also for a superb review.

I thought this was well written. The characters and imagery come across well and what dialog there is sounds realistic and consistent with the characters. I didn't find any mistakes.

I enjoyed your story. Do you have a book about this character? If you do not then I feel like you should. Very imaginative and creative. I especially enjoyed how quickly the story plot read

No, I am writing a novel with a somewhat similar character. The novel is Luisa and over twenty chapters have been posted here on FanStory. Thanks for a great review.

What a courageous woman. I had gulp soon after beginning to read this. Your descriptions are so vivid ... so graphic. Excellent post!

Thanks. Yes, I am sometimes amazed how vivid my imagination is. Thanks again for the review. You are ex-military, right? Were you in Nam?

What an outstanding story which you wrote. You brought the character to life and I felt as if I was right there in the boat with her. The plot I'm sure probably happened more than we will ever know.

Thanks for a great review. I am glad I could create empathy. Yes, I think this story is more realistic than even I would like to admit.

Yes it is. Your welcome for the review.

Wow this is defiantly a very strong and very harsh portrayal of what went on over there
How sad that an innocent baby could be treated so badly for how it came into the world
This is a shockingly good piece
Well written with a great meter
thanks xx
