I learned so much about Kangaroos, Wallaroos, and Wallaby's. I am originally from Los Angeles, California (we have no Kangaroos there, except at the zoo) and raised my son there. He eventually turned 18 and moved to Australia and did tell me about his adventures with Kangaroos, camels and other interesting animals there. (He doesn't live there any longer, he was there for 2 years) I love your story about the Kangaroos and the poem at the beginning is a great ice-breaker for the lesson. It's all written so well. -January L.

Thank you so very much, January, for another lovely review. I'm sure your son loved his time there. Our youngest son went for a year and wanted to stay there, he's a chef, but he couldn't get a visa. Fortunately for us, as he has since met and married a lovely girl and they now have a 6 year old daughter. We would have missed so much had he got his visa. Thank you again, my friend. I love kangaroos. They are such awesome animals, and your poem described them excellently. Tree kangaroos are so, so adorable also! I will admit, kangaroos do scare me sometimes, the really big ones when they stand on their feet and are muscular!

I love them now I've learned more about them. Especially the tree kangaroos which I knew nothing about. We have dozens of roos coming and going on our 18 acres which backs onto state forest. Ours are classified as 'Western greys'. Perhaps I've told you this already.

Just one point:
The wallaby: which lives in forests, eats mostly leaves and has flat grinding back teeth with flat crowns and a smaller front cutting teeth. - delete 'a'

I don't think you have mentioned it before, but now you have, do you find them a pest? In researching, I read that many farmers said they were. The tree kangaroos sound lovely, and I loved that albino. Thank you for reading my letter K, and for finding that nit, Judy, just been and corrected it. You were the only one who spotted it. Apart from them eating any garden that I might try to grow, they don't worry us. We love to see them around but then we're not trying to grow any produce. They are protected now unless you have a licence to shoot them, either for pet meat or to try to save crops. A lot get hit on the roads too as they have no road sense at all.

Hi Rosemary, thank you so much for your lovely review. All the letters of the Alphabet up to this letter are in my profile. I don't know how old your granddaughter is, my grandson is 12. Two years ago when he came for an unexpected visit with his dad, (my son) I was busy on my laptop finished my final novel in the trilogy. All my books were on the table and he picked one up and asked me if I would write about him going on an adventure. Bless his heart, he was still struggling in primary school and couldn't read anything. His parents found a school that took only children with learning disabilities, and dyslexia was one of them. He has been going to that school for 18 months now, and they have helped him enormously. I was so pleased that he'd asked me, that I got straight on to it, and wrote his first book to give him that Christmas. Eric's Epic Adventures, had begun! lol. I'm just getting the fourth adventure published now. What does help them, (I learned from his head teacher, is to have them published on yellow paper, or for them to wear yellow tinted glasses. Which is what I've done. His reading is way behind others of his age, of couse, but he is so keep to learn, that he is trying hard. One day I hope he will be able to read his books to his own children. I will do anything to help him, but another good tip is, dyslexic children find rhyming poetry is easier to learn than prose. I've many rhyming children's book in my portfolio. I hope some of this will help you and I wish your granddaughter well in her mastering her dyslexia.

A lot of love and patience. That is all I know about it, and that is what Eric's parents have in bucket loads. We rely on the medical profession for that side of things. It varies from person to person. Eric is only borderline autistic, and can be a handful at times. It's not their fault though, so harsh words are not the way to go. Love is. :)

Hello Sandra,
If males are called "Jacks" and females are called "Jills" it seems to me that must Jill must be fooling around with some guys called "Joes." Why else would babies be called Joeys! If I was Jack, I'd be a little suspicious or maybe I'm "jumping" to conclusions. :)
We were debating whether "k" would be about kangaroos or koalas.
Excellent choice as the koalas just sleep all day.
Kids should love the poem and the fun filled facts in the note section.
Nature certainly has created some strange creatures.
Six stars for Graham's art work, too!

LOL, Only you could come up with the Joey's in that way, LOL!! He must have been a very busy kangaroo.
I didn't know anything about these animals, but once I began my research I was enthralled by what I was discovering. I don't know if Pam showed you what I'd found out about the Quokka kangaroo, if not, you should ask her. I decided not to add them to this. I didn't want this book to be X rated! lol.

Thank you so very much for the lovely six stars, my friend, and another fun review. To answer your question, I didn't realise that no one in the US used it the way we do. Treat is many things apart from the obvious. We use it to mean 'Well' ... She reads/sings/ a treat, She reads/sings well. He swims a treat, he swims well. Her dress fitted her a treat...
Just another one of our expressions. I might change that so that it's not queried when it's published, though.
