Very moving and very true. We must never allow the candle of hope be extinguish within us and those that come after. We have to teach them, that one person filled with hope can make difference even in the darkest times. Well done.

So true, so true! Ending sentence rhymes & alliteration: despair dwells deep in dark.
Dark & Light cannot exist in the same place or instant, this is a faith filled poem w/a great moral.

Been a while since I've read your work, adewpearl! Still a pleasure just as I remember. I see you're teaching a SPAG class. I wish I had seen it sooner I would have loved taking it. Hopefully, there will be another. Anyway, great work! It flows so well.

Aye, Brooke, the candle is such a strong yet simple symbol.
Life lingers around the flame. But when reason teaches dark has won . . . we light candles for another purpose.

Beautiful poem! I like the depth of your thought and the lessons learnt from a simple thing like a candle burning in the dark, and how a flame is enough to penetrate in the massive darkness!
I like the contrast in the following lines:
'for while despair dwells deep in dark,
