This is a very special memory. My mother never had a wedding dress....and I never had a daughter to wear my dress...mom had to alter it twice. Nerves, kept losing weight. Nonetheless, I loved your poem. It reminds me of the many other blessings I can still share with mom.

This is a lovely free verse that flows as well as any rhyme. it reminds me of the time in my thirteen year when I tried on my great-grandmother's tea dress and realized I was already as big as she was fully grown. Such treasures connect us to our pass.

Congrats! What a beautiful life story about your legacy and the velvet dress! I kept my mom's white sating dress in my cedar chest and wore it for my wedding. My daughters have tried the dress on, but, too young. Hoping...

I am a Grandmother now.
My daughter has worn the dress
and my granddaughter has worn our velvet memory...
that lies on my lap and brings a smile.

This poem is so well described by the writer. Very deep, old memories revived by generations after such a long time that passed away. It is a sad poem, mixed with happy events. Terry
