First, congratulations on the well-deserved win!

This grabbed my full interest immediately, and needless to say, it kept me glued to it until the last word. I read your author notes first, and I think that made it even more interesting.

I don't need to comment on spags, etc. because they are all fine, as always.

Thanks, Suzanne, I'm really glad you liked this one. It was a bit slower pace, as far as writing goes, than what I initially intended. However, since some of it is based on truth, it simply worked out that way.

It was nice read for, beautiful narrative style and pinned to the end. At the end the suspense was fantastic, I myself started thinking where the picture might had gone and the thought never came to my mind that it might go to its original place inside the closet. This is a really gripping story and had me wrapt all the way through. I read this late at night and felt a definite unease. My question is how the grandparents managed to be immune to the evil influence. Best of luck in the contest.

Thank you, Barbara, very much. I don't know how mom and dad never felt any effects from the thing. My mom is a very spiritual person, a God fearing woman. Perhaps it was Him that kept those forces at bay on her behalf. Hard to say, really ...

I like this because you never made the picture do anything other than just be a suggestion of evil. It takes great skill to cause your reader chills when nothing horrible is actually happening. Love the description of the smile and the suggestion of teeth. Really creepy and fun to read. Nicely done.
